The coming year promises to be a very important one from a musical perspective, as the much-anticipated Pan Am games touch down and Toronto gains momentum with the new “Music City” initiative which aims to foster all aspects of our music sector.

Much of our Lula programming for 2015 will focus on artists from the countries of the Americas as we continue to celebrate the cultural diversity that we enjoy as residents of Toronto. Lula is proud to be working on a PANAMANIA-commission that involves Danilo Perez, the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute and a stellar array of Canadian and Panamerican special guests.

In the meantime our weekend jazz and salsa series will continue to highlight music with Panamerican roots and as part of our educational programming for students in grades 7 to 12, we’ve developed five special Pan Am focussed workshops. Please read on for details of these and other special events this winter at Lula.

Born in Madrid, Spain and based in Toronto, Laura is an accomplished singer, songwriter, pianist, and visual artist as well as the host of JAZZ.FM 91's Saturday show Café Latino. Watch for Laura’s third CD release coming soon!

Vocalist, songwriter and guitarist Victor Monsivais leads a tribute to the incredibly versatile and prolific Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. With John Farrell on guitar, Jared Craig on bass and Frederico Monsivais on percussion.

Through years of touring and collaborating with many Juno award-winning musicians, this Venezuelan-born vocalist has grown into an accomplished singer-songwriter and bandleader with unlimited colours in her compositional and lyrical palette.
