    12 Foot Tall Masonry or Stone Wall w/ Sniper Fence

    1. Clearing and Grubbing: According to PART 2 Site Preparation.

    2. Ground Preparation: According to Specifications PART 2 Site Preparation.

    3. Footer: Prior to placing, rebar shall be arranged as shown in the attached

    drawings and tied at every other intersection. The footer shall be squared andlevel. The vertical reinforcement bar shall protrude 30.5 cm (12 in) above thetop of the footer before concrete is placed. The concrete will be left to cure fora minimum of 72 hours prior to placing masonry or stone on top of the footerper drawing. Footer placement will be in accordance with drawings andSpecifications PART 3 Concrete.

    4. Exterior Walls: The exterior walls shall be constructed of stone or masonry.The wall shall be approximately 91cm (36 inches) wide and 3.66m (12 ft) tall.The walls shall be constructed from the top of the footer according todrawings and Specifications PART 4 Masonry. A 12.7cm (5 inch) concrete

    cap shall be fixed to the top of the wall after sufficient curing of the masonryor stone wall. Vertical 14mm Rebar will be placed every 50cm throughout thelength of the wall.

    5. Sniper Fence:

    5.1. Posts and Braces: The post spacing and configuration shall be per ChainLink Fence Site Plan and Details. The barbed wire and concertina wireon the fence shall have equally spaced steel pickets at 21 meters (7feet).Braces shall be used in each bay adjacent to the corner posts. The basemetal shall be weldable steel of commercial quality or better. The steelshall be galvanized or have an equivalent protective coating. The postshall be set in the concrete cap on top of the masonry wall. The postshall be embedded 61cm (24 in) deep into the top of the masonry walland shall be 1.83m (6 ft) tall above the top of the masonry wall concretecap. All posts shall be embedded into the concrete cap and masonry wallwith grout. The concrete will be placed according to the Task ForceSpecification PART 3 Concrete

    5.2. Fence Fabric: the fence fabric shall be 4mm (9 gage/0.148 in) diameterthat is woven into approximately 5 cm (2 in) mesh such that there shall beat least 7 meshes in a vertical dimension of 58.5 cm (23 in) along thediagonal of the openings. The fence fabric shall have knuckled finish onthe top and bottom edges. The fence fabric shall be stretched andsecurely fastened to corner posts with stretcher bars having dimensionsof not less than 0.6 cm X 1.9 cm (1/8 in x 3/4 in) spaced at 30.5 cm (12in) intervals. The fence fabric shall also be fastened to intermediate postswith tie wires or post clips and to tension wires with tie wires or hog rings.The fasteners shall be spaced at approximately 35.5 cm (14 in) onintermediate posts and approximately 50cm (18 in) on tension wires.     wires and hog rings shall be at least 4mm (9 gage/0.148 in) diametersteel, and post clips shall be at least 5 mm (6 gage/0.192 in) diametersteel. Wire ties shall be given at least one complete turn. Hog rings shallbe closed with ends overlapping. The tension wires shall be wrappedaround end posts. The distance from the top of the fabric to the top

    tension wire and from the bottom of the fabric to the bottom of the tensionwire shall be 75 mm (3 in) maximum. The tension wires shall be at least0.5 cm (6 gage/0.192 in) diameter coil spring steel. Tension wires shallbe stretched tight. The bottom tension wire shall be installed on a straightgrade between posts by excavating the high points of ground and in nocase will filling of depressions be permitted. All tension wire, tie wires,hog rings, and post clips shall be of good commercial quality and shall begalvanized or be coated with an equivalent protective coating accordingto Task Force Specification PART 5 Metals.

    6. Steel Pickets: After sufficient curing of the stone or masonry wall and

    concrete cap, the contractor shall embed one row of steel pickets into the topof the concrete cap and wall per attached drawings. The steel pickets shallbe spaced every 3 meters (9.84 feet) with 0.41 meter (16 in) embedment intothe concrete cap and top of the masonry wall. After embedment of thepickets, the contractor shall install one strand of galvanized wire connectingthe top of the pickets.

    7. Concertina Wire: After embedding one row of steel pickets and installing onerow of galvanized wire, the Contractor shall install one row of concertina wireand metal angles with three rows of barbed wire along the top of the wall perattached drawings. Each roll of concertina wire shall be stretched no morethan 13 meters (42 feet). Concertina wire strands shall be secured onto thesteel picket top notch and fixed to the galvanized wire between pickets.Consecutive coils of concertina wire shall be connected at the steel picket asfollows: place the first coil over picket; place both bottom and top portion ofthe second coil over the picket; place top portion of first coil over picket;ensure that top of both coils are secured to the picket. The Contractor shallprovide wire tie to secure the concertina to the pickets.
