Parish Corn Roast
Many thanks to all those who participated in our recent
parish Corn Roast. The evening was a great success,
thanks to the many parishioners who volunteered their
time to organize and host the event. Around 100 people
came out to share a delicious meal and a good time. The
hard work of our parish Development Committee and their
collaborators was evident. While not, strictly speaking, a
fundraiser, the event had the added benefit of making a
few dollars as well. Stay tuned for word of similar events
in the future!
DIOCESAN PRAYER CALENDAR
This week we especially pray for:
Monday Very Reverend Michael King
Tuesday Very Reverend Monsignor Murray Kroetsch
Wednesday Jesuit Fathers (S.J.)
Thursday Very Reverend Adrian Lee
Friday Reverend Monsignor Edward Sheridan
Saturday Reverend Robert Kiffman
Eternal Father, we lift up to you these and all the priests,
religious and lay ministers of the world. Sanctify them.
Heal them; guide them. Mold them into the likeness and
holiness of your Son, Jesus, the Eternal High Priest. May
their lives be pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
Matrimony - a beautiful vocation so
misused today. Celibacy - a beautiful
gift so misunderstood today. Whether
we do God’s work in pairs or as a
single person in ministry or in a community, we do God’s
work because He calls us. If you feel God is calling you to
a Church vocation, contact Father Michael King, Director
of Vocations and Priestly Formation, Diocese of Hamilton
at 905-528-7988 or email [email protected].
RCIA - For those not yet Baptized, Baptized
in another Faith, those not yet Confirmed or
those who have questions
about the Catholic Christian Faith.
RCIA is a path for teens and adults to learn more about
the Catholic faith. It is for those wishing to receive the
Sacraments and for those who are just interested in
knowing more and might have questions. Sessions are on
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Marian Room. For more
information, call the parish office and a team member will
contact you.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
THANKSGIVING
FOOD DRIVE
The annual St. Vincent de
Paul Food Drive is this
weekend, October 6th and
7th. Parishioners are
encouraged to bring non-
perishable food items to
the church and deposit them in the boxes near the
entrances or by the St. Vincent de Paul room, next to the
Chapel.
DEVELOPMENT AND
PEACE FALL
ACTION CAMPAIGN
“WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES”
This year, Development and Peace is striving to bring
greater attention to the world's refugee crisis. Refugees
flee their homelands when no other options remain; when
staying would otherwise lead to displacement or death. As
an act of solidarity with the world's 68.5 million forced
migrants, Development and Peace would like the
collective "we" to walk the circumference of the Earth
(40,075km) by August 31, 2019.
St. Anthony Daniel Parish will be participating in this
collective walk on October 21st after the 10:30 a.m.
Mass. There will be options for walkers and non-walkers.
You can walk as little or as much as you like, and we'll
have multiple rest stops. After the walk, we'll upload our
total mileage to the Development and Peace website to
help get us "around the Earth."
More information on the refugee crisis can be found at
devp.org. To learn more about this exciting parish
group, email Rebecca at [email protected]. We
hope to walk or pray with you on October 21st!
WE GIVE THANKS
FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS
Scores of individuals, young and old,
support the good work of our many
ministries at our parish. Through the contribution of their
time and talents, we all benefit, and our church is a
stronger community.
Thank you to all our volunteers! As you bless others with
your work, you are blessed in return.
Thinking of volunteering at our church? Next weekend
is your opportunity to talk with volunteers from our
various ministries in the PLC after all Masses, for our
special Stewardship Weekend.
OPENING MASS
WITH BISHOP
CROSBY
Thank you to all those who have volunteered at the
Freeport site this Campaign and pray and witness for the
weakest and most defenseless humans. Of course we also
pray for and wish all those who disagree with us no ill
will.
If you have not been able to get to the site for an hour this
Campaign or if you can do extra hours, would you please
go to www.40daysforlife.com/kitchener and add your

Patrick or Rita at 519 7485548 and they will sign you up.
Please do not go to the site without either registering
online or calling.
Thank you for your support of the unborn.

CANADIAN FOOD FOR CHILDREN
Knitters are needed to make squares for
afghans for Dr. Simone’s Canadian Food for
Children. Some ladies also make pneumonia vests and
slippers. Yarn and some information is provided at the
Church in the CFFC bin by the glass cabinets. If you
would like to help with this project, please call Wendy at
519-743-5353 for details.
PARISH DIRECTORY
The 2018 edition of the St. Anthony Daniel
Parish Directory has arrived. For those who
had their portrait taken, a complimentary
copy of the book is available in the Parish Life Centre
foyer. Each is packaged with the family surname.
If you chose not to have your portrait taken, but would
like to obtain a copy of the directory, we have a limited
number of copies available for purchase in the Narthex.
You can place your payment of $25.00 in the collection
box in the vestibule or drop the money off at the parish
office.
MASS ATTENDANCE
The Diocese of Hamilton has instructed all
parishes in the Diocese to conduct 3
additional Mass Attendance Surveys in 2018
to assist in accumulating accurate data on trends in Mass
attendance. The remaining dates of the surveys are:
October 27th and 28
th
November 17th, 18
th
Attendance will be taken at all three weekend Masses,
therefore, three volunteers will be required for each of the
5:00 p.m., 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. As a result,
we are looking for volunteers. If anyone is interested in
assisting or if you would like further information, please
call the parish office at 519-893-6960. Your assistance
would be very much appreciated. The Parish Development
Committee would very much
like to thank all of our
parishioners who attended
the recent Corn Roast dinner.
It was a great evening of fun
and fellowship and was
enjoyed by all.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
All parishioners who are interested in
meeting monthly to work on prayer
shawls and keep informed of various
projects are encouraged to come out to
our gathering in the Marian Room on:
Wednesday, October 10th from 1:00 -3:00 p.m.
Bring your current knitting/crocheting project! Please
mark this date on your calendar and join us! These shawls
are made with prayers to help those who need the warmth
and love of our Lord in their time of need. This is a
wonderful ministry to become involved in. You can
work at home and with us at these monthly gatherings.
All are welcome. Call Joan at 519-893-7429 or Linda at
519-893-2534 for more information.
THANKSGIVING PRAYER
Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all
goodness and love, please look kindly upon us and
receive our heartfelt gratitude in this time of giving
thanks.
Thank you for all the graces and blessings you have
bestowed upon us, spiritual and temporal: our faith
and religious heritage, our food and shelter, our
health, the love we have for one another, our family
and friends.
Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please
grant us continued graces and blessings throughout
the coming year.
This we ask in the Name of Jesus, Your Son. Amen.
