BAPTISM - (English) Registration begins with an interview of the child’s parent. Parents must call office to make an appointment. If Parent or Godparent(s) have baptized in the last 12 months from the date of intended baptism, proof must be provided (where and when class was taken); a letter or card from the parish. It is a Church requirement that at least one Godparent has the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is the expectation that Godparents are practicing Catholics. Help at Cemetery - Volunteers Needed…..St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery, our parish cemetery, needs help for the autumn clean-up. Many families come to visit the graves of loved ones and help is needed to clean the cemetery grounds after the summer season. All teenagers Grade 8 – High School (present members and new members) are invited. Youth Group meets on Saturday after the 6:30 Mass. The group is in both English and Spanish as we want all to feel welcome. Given a previous commitment there will be no meeting on next Saturday, September 22. The next meeting will be on September 29.

Renewal of Commitment
Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
“I was hungry and you fed me, a stranger and you
welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, sick and
you visited me. Whenever you did this to one of my dear
brethren, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25 - 35 ,45) These
words of Jesus underpin the vocation of each member of
the Society of Vincent de Paul (Vincentians). They call us
to follow His way of life, “through Service to those in
need and through Person-to-Person Contact”. These same
words inspired St. Vincent de Paul to give “Priority to the
Poorest of the Poor” in his ministry to others.
He states that we can no longer speak of the poor out there
but to realize we too are His poor ones serving the poor.
Their pain is our pain and so we approach them with
reverence, gentleness and a listening ear above all.
On Thursday, September 27th, at the 6:30 p.m. Mass, the
Vincentians of our parish will renew their commitment to
serve in this Ministry once again. Please keep each and
every one of these parishioners in your prayers.

"Tuve hambre y me diste de comer; tuve sed, y me diste de beber; fui forastero, y me recogiste, estuve desnudo, y me cubriste; enfermo, y me visitaste... Cada vez que le
hiciste esto a uno de mis queridos hermanos, me lo hiciste a mi”. (Mateo 25, 35-45). Estas palabras de Jesús sustentan la vocación de cada miembro de la Sociedad de Vicente de Paúl (Vicentinos). Nos llaman a seguir su forma de vida, "a través del servicio a los necesitados y a través del contacto de persona a persona". Estas mismas palabras inspiraron a San Vicente de Paúl a dar "Prioridad a los más Pobres entre los Pobres" en su ministerio a otros.
Afirma que ya no podemos hablar de los pobres, sin darnos cuenta de que también nosotros somos sus pobres sirviendo a los pobres. Su dolor es nuestro dolor y por eso nos acercamos con reverencia, gentileza y un oído atento sobre todo.
El jueves, 27 de septiembre, en la Misa de las 6:30 p.m., los Vicentinos de nuestra parroquia renovarán su compromiso de servir en este Ministerio una vez más. Por favor, mantenga a cada uno de esto feligreses en sus oraciones.

combine the 10:30 a.m. Mass and the 12:15 p.m. Mass to one parish Mass which will be celebrated at at 11:15 a.m.

Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate...Our prayers and blessings are with: Osvaldo Fernandez, Julio Sanchez, Cristino Ynfante and their families, our parish and the parishes where they will serve as they are ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on Saturday, September 29. Each of the deacons has participated in a 4 year program of study, prayer, spiritual direction and ministry formation. Each man and his wife have been involved in ministry at Saint Mary of the Assumption. Their gifts and talents may be different but they are from God and are now offered in service to the Church.
Ordenación al Diaconado Permanente...Nuestras oraciones y bendiciones con Osvaldo Fernandez, Julio Sánchez Cristino Ynfante y sus familias, nuestra parroquia y las parroquias donde van a servir al ser ordenados a. Diaconado Permanente por el Cardenal Sean O'Malley el sábado, 29 de septiembre. Cada uno de los diáconos ha participado en un programa de estudio de 4 años, oración, dirección espiritual y formación ministerial. Cada hombre y su esposa han estado involucrados en el ministerio en Santa María de la Asunción. Sus dones y talentos pueden ser diferentes, pero son de Dios y ahora se ofrecen al servicio de la Iglesia.
The Diaconate
The word “deacon” is derived from a Greek word meaning
“servant, waiter, messenger, minister.” Chapter 6 of The
Acts of the Apostles relates the call of the first deacons.
As the community grew in number the responsibilities of
ministry increased. The Twelve gathered with the
community in prayer and called on the community to
select 7 men who would minister to the community in
particular to assist people in need. Stephen, one of the first
deacons was martyred. There are references in Church
history that women also served in this ministry.
The ministry of deacon as a preacher of the Word and
servant to the needs of people continued in the church until
the 5th Century. This ministry gradually became the final
step in the preparation for ordination to the priesthood (the
transitional deacon). 50 years ago the Vatican Council II
renewed the ministry of the permanent deacon in the
church. Permanent deacons presently are men, married or
single, called by God and the church to service to the
people of God. The proclamation of the Gospel and
preaching are primary. Permanent deacons can also
celebrate Baptisms and witness marriages. Their ministry
in a particular parish varies according to the needs of the
parish and the gifts of the deacon. At present there are
over ….. permanent deacons serving in the Archdiocese
of Boston. Many serve in local parishes. Others serve as
hospital and prison chaplains and other pastoral services in
the Archdiocese.
El Diaconado
La palabra "diácono" se deriva de una palabra griega que
significa "siervo, camarero, mensajero, ministro". El capítulo
6 de Los Hechos de los Apóstoles relata el llamado de los
primeros diáconos. A medida que la comunidad creció en

All those afflicted with serious illness of any sort are invited to be anointed in this Sacrament of Healing. This includes those with serous acute or chronic illness, those for whom age has become a hardship, those who suffer serious emotional or mental turmoil and those who are suffering or recovering from substance abuse.

Esto incluye a los que tienen una enfermedad grave, seria o crónica, a los que la edad se le has hecho una carga, a los que sufren de trastornos emocionales o mentales, y a los que están sufriendo o recuperándose del abuso del alcohol o de las drogas.
