We at Saint Katharine Drexel Parish pray and worship God as a community of faith through the celebration of the Eucharist and the Sacraments of the Church. Our purpose is to nourish our Christian community with Gospel values and works of charity. We dedicate our efforts to proclaim the good news through evangelization, teach the message of Christ through education and formation, and to serve the needs of all people in our community. We ask God to guide and bless our efforts through the intercession of Mary, Joseph, St. Katharine Drexel, and all the Saints. St. Katharine Drexel Parish warmly welcomes visitors and new members at all times. If you are not worshipping with another parish community or you are new to the area, we encourage you to fill out a registration form available at the entrance of church. Perhaps you are not Catholic and are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church; all you have to do is ask or call us. Don’t put off what your heart is telling you to do. Jesus left the Church behind to continue His work here on earth and we are all called to be His disciples and to follow him together.

Turn to any page of St. Faustina’s Diary, and you’ll find spiritual gems. Like these. Forty-eight times in St.

Faustina’s Diary, Jesus tells her not to be afraid. That’s right. I counted. Fear is one of the enemy’s greatest

tools. More than anything else, Jesus needs us to turn from fear and to trust Him. That’s why every Divine

Mercy Image is inscribed with the message “ Jesus, I trust in You.”

I know it can be difficult to do. But there’s no task more important than offering Christ our worries and trusting that despite how things may seem, He has everything under control. One sure way to fall into fear? Fighting against God’s will for us. We need to

surrender to God, to whatever Divine Providence has allowed in our lives, and trust that He is going to use

our circumstances, even the most difficult, for our good. Here are all 48 quotes from Jesus from

the Diary about fear: • Tell him not to fear anything; My gaze is on him

day and night. (90) • Fear not, My daughter; I am with you. (103) • Do not fear; I am with you. (129) • I will answer you through his lips, and then your

fears will end. (169) • Do not fear anything. (232) • Do not fear; I will not leave you to yourself. (258) • Yes, I will be with you always, if you always remain

a little child and fear nothing. (295) • From today on, do not fear God’s judgment, for

you will not be judged. (374) • You are united to Me; fear nothing. (412) • My daughter, have fear of nothing; I am always

with you. All your adversaries will harm you only to the degree that I permit them to do so. (431)

• Do not fear; I Myself will make up for everything that is lacking in you. (435)

• Why are you fearful and why do you tremble when you are united to Me? (453)

• I want to strengthen you and make you fearless in the midst of all the adversities which lie ahead. (456)

• Do not fear anything; nothing will happen to you against My will. (541)

• Do not fear anything. I am with you. These matters are in My hands and I will bring them to fruition according to My mercy, for nothing can oppose My will. (573)

• But as for you, fear nothing; I am always with you. And know this, too, My daughter: all creatures, whether they know it or not, and whether they want to or not, always fulfill My will. (586)

• Do not fear anything; I am always with you. (613) • Do not fear anything, My daughter; all the

adversaries will be shattered at My feet. (626)

• Do not fear anything. I am always with you. (629) • Fear nothing; all difficulties will serve for the

fulfillment of My will. (634) • But fear nothing, as I am with you. Know that of

yourself you can do nothing. (639) • Do not be upset. Fear nothing; I am with you.

(645) • Fear nothing; I am with you. (655) • My will has not yet been completely accomplished

in you; you will still suffer much, but I am with you; do not fear. (675)

• Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. (699)

• He will lead you through; do not fear. (712) • Near to My Heart, fear nothing. (797) • My daughter, why are you giving in to thoughts of

fear? (881) • Do not fear; I will not leave you alone. (881) • Why was your soul fearful for a moment? (922) • Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach

Me. (1059) • My daughter, fear nothing. I am always with you,

even if it seems to you that I am not. (1109) • Fear nothing. You are in My heart. (1133) • Do not fear; I am with you. (1150) • Do not fear, My child; but remain faithful only to

My grace. (1166) • Let them not fear to approach Me; they are most in

need of My mercy. (1275) • Do not fear, My little child, you are not alone. Fight

bravely, because My arm is supporting you. (1452) • My child, do you fear the God of mercy? My

holiness does not prevent Me from being merciful. (1485)

• Look at the splendors of My mercy and do not fear the enemies of your salvation. (1485)

• But fear not, because you are not alone. (1488) • I am always supporting you, so lean on Me as you

struggle, fearing nothing. (1488) • Do not fear. I am watching you this very moment

and am helping you. (1494) • Do not fear either struggles of the soul or any

temptations, because I am supporting you. (1560) • Do not fear. I am with you. (1704) • Fear nothing. (1753) • Do not fear struggle; courage itself often

intimidates temptations, and they dare not attack us. (1760)

• Do not be unduly fearful, because you are not alone. (1760)

• Do not fear; My grace will be with you. (1767)

DON'T FEAR, DON'T FEAR, DON'T FEAR ...

Page 4: MASS SCHEDULE/HORARIO DE MISAS SUNDAY OF DIVINE …

A mong all of the elements of devotion to The Divine Mercy requested by our Lord through Sr. Faustina, the Feast of Mercy holds first place. The Lord's will with regard to its establishment was already made

known in His first revelation to the saint. In all, there were 14 revelations concerning the desired feast. Once after insisting, "Do all you possibly can for this work of mercy," Jesus added: "My Heart rejoices on account of this feast." Sister Faustina concluded: "After these words, I understood that nothing can dispense me from the obligation which the Lord demands of me" (Diary, 998). Novena In fact, Jesus Himself dictated the intentions for each day of the novena which starts on Good Friday and He desired to be celebrated as a preparation for the solemn observance of this feast. Veneration of the Image The image of Jesus, The Divine Mercy, is to have a special place of honor on the Feast of Mercy, a visual reminder of all that Jesus did for us through His Passion, Death, and Resurrection ... and a reminder, too, of what He asks of us in return ‑ to trust Him and be merciful to others: "I want the image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter, and I want it to be venerated publicly so that every soul may know about it" (341). A Special Promise of Mercy Our Lord's promise to grant complete forgiveness of sins and punishment on the Feast of Mercy is recorded three times in the Diary of Saint Faustina, each time in a slightly different way: "I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My mercy" (1109). "Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life on this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment" (300). "The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion will obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment" (699). Extraordinary Graces Our Lord is emphasizing, through this promise, the infinite value of Confession and Communion as miracles of mercy. He wants us to realize that since the Eucharist is His own Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, it is the "Fountain of Life" (300). The Eucharist is Jesus, Himself, the Living God, longing to pour Himself as Mercy into our hearts. Why would Our Lord feel the need to emphasize this? Because so many people do not really understand it. They either see no need to receive Holy Communion, or they receive

it simply out of habit. As St. Paul explains in his letter to the Corinthians, they eat the bread or drink the cup of the Lord unworthily, "without recognizing the body of the Lord."

(I Cor 11:27‑29) In His revelations to Saint Faustina Our Lord makes it very clear what He is offering us in Holy Communion and how much it hurts Him when we treat His presence with indifference: "My great delight is to unite Myself with souls ... When I come to a human heart in Holy Communion, My hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give to the soul. But souls do not even pay any attention to Me; they leave Me to Myself and busy themselves with other things. Oh, how sad I am that souls do not recognize Love! They treat Me as a dead object" (1385) ... So, Our Lord's promise of complete forgiveness is both a reminder and a call. It is a reminder that He is truly present and truly alive in the Eucharist, filled with love for us and waiting for us to turn to Him with trust. And it is a call for us all to be washed clean in His Love through Confession and Holy Communion ‑ no matter how terrible our sins ‑ and begin our lives again. He is offering us a new start. Prepare Yourself Properly Going to Confession is not the only way we should prepare ourselves for Divine Mercy Sunday. As Cardinal Francis Macharski, Archbishop of Krakow, Poland explains in a 1985 pastoral letter, we are not simply called to ask for God's mercy with trust. We are also called to be merciful: "Our own merciful attitude is likewise a preparation. Without deeds of mercy our devotion would not be real. For Christ does not only reveal the mercy of God, but at the same time He places before people the demand that they conduct themselves in life with love and mercy. The Holy Father states that this requirement constitutes the very heart of the Gospel ethos (Rich in Mercy, 3) ‑ it is the commandment of love and the promise: ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy' (Mt 5:7). Let it be a mercy that is forgiving and true, and universal, with good words, deeds, and prayer for others!" Our Lord's words to Saint Faustina about this requirement to be merciful are very strong and leave no room for misinterpretation: "Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy ... I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it" (742).

My mercy is greater than all the sins of

the world. -Jesus to St. Faus na

Page 6: MASS SCHEDULE/HORARIO DE MISAS SUNDAY OF DIVINE …
