7th Grade visits the Health Museum in Houston 7th graders are studying the Human Body in Coach Greeness’ health class. To make it a little more hands-on, we took the students to the Health Museum of Houston. The museum gave students an opportunity to walk through parts of the body and see how each system works. The following is a
summary of the trip written by Miles Slater and Bree Allsup. On May 6th, we went on a field trip to the Health Museum in Houston. We left at 6am. The first thing we
did was learn about DNA and RNA. We made a key chain model of DNA. Mine turned out to be pretty nice. Next, we went into a 4-D movie to watch The Planet in You. This movie showed what lives in you
and the bugs that live on you. It showed how bacteria and bed bugs eat at your dead skin. It also showed how our blood clots when we are injured. Lastly, we went to a room filled with lots of cool stuff and models of the body. We did a scavenger hunt to learn different things about our bodies. We walked
through the brain and the mouth, we saw how the skeletal system works while we rode the bike, and we also saw the inside of our body through a scanner machine. The exhibit with all of the computers showed
us how we might look in the future, how tall we might be, what we would look like if we changed certain characteristics, and there was one machine that showed our characteristics compared to others in the museum. Overall, the trip was great. I loved all of the hands- on exhibits. The movie was gross, but it
was cool to learn what is happening in your body. The pictures were taken by Coach Smith.
Students in Mr. Garcia’s 6.2 SFA class went all out in their presentations of biography bookreports. Students used technology such as Google Apps, Power
Point, You Tube and other resources to present and enhance their reports. Other students created excellent visual aids such as collages and posters. Martin Luther King Jr., Anne
Frank, Thomas Edison, Miley Cyrus and the Beatles are just a few of the biographies that they worked very hard on. Excellent Job!

SFA Book Club
Everyone is invited to join the Stacey Bands and Choir as they perform their annual Spring Concert on

The 2013 Stacey Prom was held at Arnold Hall on Saturday, May 4th , and it was a very
successful event! The theme was “Paris under the Stars”, which made the students’ night
even more magical. The Junior class decided to move the location this year from the high
school cafeteria to Arnold Hall to make the night memorable for this year’s seniors. Junior
class sponsors Mrs. Cashion and Mrs. Sanchez, along with help from Stacey teachers, staff,
and the junior class prom committee, put in many hours of preparation making
arrangements, building the sets, printing tickets, and transporting everything over to the
hall.

Mrs. Day’s Spanish 1 and 2 students learned the history behind Cinco de Mayo celebrations, and then they celebrated the day by making delicious enchiladas and frijoles. They are very talented cooks! The linguistics and
culture students enjoyed learning how to make a traditional Mexican decoration, papel picado.

Girl Scouts Information Meeting!!!! Have you ever dreamed of your daughter being a Girl Scout? Has your daughter asked you to
be in Girl Scouts? Well now you can! We are looking for new girls from ages 5 to 18. This will be our second year
at Lackland, and we want to expand our troops. If you would like to learn more or have questions about who we are, please come join us at our Membership drive this month. We will

Camp Mickey D’s provides students with a unique experience that connects what students learn in school to skills in the workforce. Students will be learning skills that will help them at home, in school and life. This experience will give students an understanding of what is expected of employees in the world of work. Their career readiness will be above that of other young people entering their first job. This program is a partnership with the Career & Technical Education Department In various San Antonio School Districts, and the Greater San Antonio McDonald’s Owner/Operators Association.
