Priorities

Our daughter, granddaughter and my mother were here this past weekend for Mother’s Day. We had a great time visiting, playing, and attending church together. During this

weekend, as I watched our family together, I was reminded of how important it is for us to set priorities. I noticed that all of us were carrying on priorities set by the generation before them. I even heard my granddaughter make a statement or two and watched an action that I recognized from my mom. Think about this for a moment. What was set for a priority for my mom almost 80 years ago is showing up as a priority in my granddaughter. If you don’t think what you do, what you say, and how you act makes a difference, you are totally wrong. Those things will show up for years to come in those who follow you. It can show up in those you influence outside your family unit as well. What are the priorities your family is learning this year? Even this Summer? Make sure you are passing on to those around you what you think is really important in life.

The Oklahoma Annual Conference begins Sunday afternoon, May 27th at Boston Avenue Methodist Church in Tulsa. Our three pastors and lay delegates Preston and Nancy Arnold will be in attendance. Information about Annual Conference can be found at www.okumc.org.

SUMMER OUTLET WORSHIP SCHEDULE

The Children’s Musical Theater is entering its 11th year of providing quality entertain-

ment to the Bartlesville community. Each year the stage sets get bigger and

better and this year’s Willie Wonka set will be the best yet!

But, believe it or not, CMT does not own any tools but one table saw. We’ve relied on the generosity of volunteers to use their own tools to build the sets. This year, out goal is to establish a CMT “tool shed”.

If you (or your friends) have tools which are gathering dust, please donate them to the CMT and we promise to put them to good use for years to come.

Tools can be brought to the CMT office located at 600 SE Delaware, or call (918) 336-0558 if the tools are too large (or too many) for you to bring in and we will arrange a pick up. We ask that the tools be in good working order. Call Jan Watt for more information.

Annual Conference Offering will be collected May 27th. This offering will be combined with offerings from churches in the Oklahoma Confer-ence and those collected at Annual Conference. The offering will be given equally to:

STUDENT MINISTRY NEWS

As I come down the final stretch of my time of serving at East Cross I want to thank you East Cross for helping me to develop as an overall minister. I have had the opportunity to lead committees, make hospital visits, sing on the praise team, run the multimedia (when I could get it to work) and preach. When I came to East Cross I was petrified to stand in front of adults and preach. However, during the last ten years and the opportunities I’ve had to preach at the Outlet and on Sunday mornings, I have grown confident in proclaiming God’s message. I want to thank you, the congregation, for that. Your smiles and kind words of encouragement have been so helpful. Thank you East Cross for being a congregation that lives up to it’s motto “where people care about you!” PRIME TIME TO RESUME JUNE 3RD!
