Pentecost Today we celebrate the unexpected actions of a Great and Wonderful God. As we stand here gazing into the sky after the Ascension of Our Lord we might feel abandoned and unsure of ourselves as the Apostles did on that day. And then, there is suddenly a great wind and we are compelled to go outside and tell the world the Good News. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son to suffer and die for each of us. It doesn’t matter where you are from, what language you speak or even the gravity of your sins, the price has been paid. His love and mercy is in equal proportion to all people. There are poor, abandoned and lonely people in this world, today we are compelled to go out into the world and share with them the love we experience everyday pouring forth from the Great and Wonderful God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit.

Pentecostés Hoy celebramos las acciones inesperadas de un Gran y Maravilloso Dios. Mientras estamos aquí, mirando hacia el cielo después de la Ascensión de Nuestro Señor podemos sentir abandonados e inseguros de nosotros mismos como lo hicieron los apóstoles en ese día. Y entonces, de repente hay un gran viento y estamos obligados a salir y decirle al mundo la Buena Noticia. Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único para sufrir y morir por cada uno de nosotros. No importa dónde usted está, qué idioma habla, o incluso la gravedad de sus pecados, el precio ha sido pagado. Su amor y su misericordia es en igual proporción a todas las personas. Allí están los pobres, los abandonados y a las personas solas en este mundo, hoy nos vemos obligados a salir al mundo y compartir con ellos el amor que experimenta-mos cada día derramando desde el gran y maravilloso Dios, Jesucristo, el Espíritu Santo.

Wearmouth-Jarrow, England. He was sent there when he was three and educated by Abbots Benedict Biscop and Ceolfrid. He became a monk at the monastery, was or-dained when thirty, and except for a few brief visits else-where, spent all of his life in the monastery, devoting him-self to the study of Scripture and to teaching and writing. He is considered one of the most learned men of his time and a major influence on English literature. His writings are a veritable summary of the learning of his time and include commentaries on the Pentateuch and various other books of the Bible, theological and scientific treatises, his-torical works, and biographies. His best-known work is HISTORIA ECCLESIASTICA, a history of the English Church and people, which he completed in 731. It is an account of Christianity in England up to 729 and is a pri-mary source of early English history. Called "the Venera-ble" to acknowledge his wisdom and learning, the title was formalized at the Council of Aachen in 853. He was a care-ful scholar and distinguished stylist, the "father" of English history, the first to date events anno domini (A.D.), and in 1899, was declared the only English doctor of the Church. He died in Wearmouth-Jarrow on May 25. His feast day is May 25th.
