A proposal, wedding plans, a major leak, fun pre-wedding parties, and finally our big day. It was such a joy to celebrate with our family and friends as we witnessed before God and one another the vow of our love. Rev. Cathie Leimenstoll's wedding homily was based on two texts: 1 Corinthians 13 (Traditionally called the "Love" chapter) and Proverbs 27, verse 17 "Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens the wit of another." Both of these readings call us to a different kind of love - a love that sacrifices ones self for the betterment of the other. Indeed this is what we are called to do and be for one another as Christians. Just as husband and wife enter into a "set apart covenant" so do all who claim the name of Jesus. Living and loving the way Jesus calls us to is not easy - in fact it breeds conflict. This week's lectionary text from 1 Peter addresses what it means to suffer for the glory of God. What are the ways God is calling us to put aside ourselves for His glory? How might the body of Christ strengthen you for this task? How does seeking to love in this way change your thoughts, your prayers, you actions? Join us for worship this week as we look deeper into what it means to love sacrificially. Blessings, Rev. Message from Rev. Lea

The past several months have been a pretty big whirlwind. A

proposal, wedding plans, a major leak, fun pre-wedding parties,

and finally our big day. It was such a joy to celebrate with our

family and friends as we witnessed before God and one another

the vow of our love. Rev. Cathie Leimenstoll's wedding homily

was based on two texts: 1 Corinthians 13 (Traditionally called the

"Love" chapter) and Proverbs 27, verse 17 "Iron sharpens iron,

and one person sharpens the wit of another." Both of these

readings call us to a different kind of love - a love that sacrifices

ones self for the betterment of the other. Indeed this is what we

are called to do and be for one another as Christians. Just as

husband and wife enter into a "set apart covenant" so do all who

claim the name of Jesus.

Living and loving the way Jesus calls us to is not easy - in fact it

breeds conflict. This week's lectionary text from 1 Peter

addresses what it means to suffer for the glory of God. What are

the ways God is calling us to put aside ourselves for His glory?

How might the body of Christ strengthen you for this task? How

does seeking to love in this way change your thoughts, your

prayers, you actions? Join us for worship this week as we look

deeper into what it means to love sacrificially.

Blessings, Rev. Lea Griffith :)
