E-NEWS Deciding to Trust God’s Call Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) -David Hawk God spoke these words to Joshua as he and his people stood on the edge of the Promised Land. They had only a vague idea of where they were supposed to go, virtually no clue about how they were going to get there, a hazy understanding of what they would find when they arrived, and not much to work with. They DID have a clear call from God, strong enough to qualify as a command, that they be where they were, and that they embark upon the campaign that lay be- fore them. They DID have a commitment from the God whose faithfulness and power they knew that He would be with them, doing everything necessary for the fulfillment of His promises to them. They DID have His instructions, and lots of experience that proved the wisdom of trusting His word. The invitation was clear: Trust God and follow Him with courage and strength. Any other way led only to crippling fear and despair. Follow Him and succeed, or go another way and fail; what would their choice be? We who serve the Lord as partners on the Mission Mazahua ministry team have the same invitation, and the same resources. We may not always know what we need to do, how to do it, what the results may be, or where the resources are going to come from to get the job done. We DO have a compelling call from God to be part of this team and to pursue the work of God’s Kingdom in Mazahua country. We DO have God’s promise that the grace and power we have experienced so many times before will never fail, and that God will never leave us to attempt this service alone. We DO have God’s written Word, the Bible, and His Living Word, Jesus, to provide guidance every moment of every day. If we pursue God’s purposes in God’s ways, the Holy Spirit will give us the strength and courage to accomplish apparently impossible things. The evidence from 30 years of experience is com- pelling, but every day we must decide anew: Will we trust God? Will we move ahead at His bidding? Some may be tempted to wonder, as some of Joshua’s people did, “Hav- ing come so far, having done so much, can’t we just stop pushing and be content with what we have already accomplished?” To stop now would be to miss the inheritance that is within our grasp. To stop now would be to short circuit the potential we have to pour out blessings on our neighbors near and far, in abun- dance beyond our imagining. To stop now would be to mute the Gospel we are meant to trumpet through the lands! To stop now would be to withdraw our trust from the God Who calls us onward, and to betray the trust that God and many others have deposited in us. Each of us must resolve to do the part God has given us! Together, empowered by the Lord, we will see amazing things come to pass. THE POOLRoesch- Happy screams resound against the mosaic of rock and ce-ment as parents watch in awe. The workers who created this pool have something to boast about. The pool is truly beautiful and yet still a work in progress. The steam room and smaller pool are not yet complete and a large piece of plastic is in place of windows to keep out the crisp moun-tain wind. It seems the natatorium will never be complete. As locals and workers jump in; instantaneously this is a place of fellowship and recreation. What a gift from God!

HACIENDA TIMERoesch-Roesch-During the first Mazahua Camp for area kids we dis-cussed Joshua, the crossing of the Red Sea, Abraham and God's promise of a son. The children ranged from 4 to 16 years of age. There were 20 children and 15 leaders. It may sound a bit over done but after the cooking, cleaning, activities, Bible study and splitting up of the kids, the leaders felt pretty much worn out. Alicia Herrera was

the director of the camp and a second mother to the youngin's. Your dona-tions of glue, scissors, glitter, foam, etc, came into play BIG TIME! They had fun. After three times in the pool no one wanted to go home. There will be a second camp next week with more children and only 5 leaders.

CORPUS UNUSRoesch-For university students who want a different sort of winter break, there will be a camp in December of at least 50 Americans and 50 Mexi-cans. Event starts Dec 26th, 6pm-Jan. 2. We will be serv-ing those in need, and glori-fying the Lord! Cost is $350

MISIÓN MAZAHUA KIDS CAMP

Yanez-Better to give than receive. One month ago I finished college and after five years I find the desire of my heart is with serving God. I have no money but I do have time, health, talent and a willingness to help, to extend love and the mercy of God to people. The last week of July and the second week of August I had the opportunity to devote my time to the Mazahua kids in the region. It was a beautiful experience and also hard work. Kat and the boys from Palabra de Vida of Lomas de Cocoyoc, More-

los were all sup-porting; sacrific-ing time, vaca-tions, and amenities among other things; all with the feeling of giving the best of ourselves to these kidsThe main objec-tive was to give

these kids one of the best experiences of their lives through devotion, Bible stories, games, and activities in the pool. The first day the work was a little difficult because of the diversity in ages (3 to 16 years), but discovering the talents of each member of the

group did not prove difficult. They were 6 o'clock mornings preparing breakfast, followed by washing dishes. We had Bible stories, games, more

preparing food, more washing dishes, bathing children, afternoon activities, preparing dinner, more washing dishes, Christian films with the chil-dren in the evening, and so on. At the end of these two weeks we got the experience of giving the best of ourselves and seeing the kids with blessed lives. They had grateful hearts for God, Mission Mazahua, and for the opportunity to be part of this camp. Mission Mazahua, Thanks for the opportunity to serve God in this place…

Then make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being one spirit and purpose. Philippians 2.2

STORY OF THE CHAIRS170 wheel chairs stuck at the border for three months, sounds like an ob-stacle only God can overcome. Five groups came from the United States and did accessibility improvements to homes but were only able to do some of the planned distributions in place for June-Aug of 2008. The Mobility Project (TMP) had a container filled with 170 wheelchairs, crutches, walk-ers, and shower chairs stalled in Cus-toms during this time. God it seems had other plans. Chairs did come. The five groups that came down brought varying numbers of wheel chairs with them, selflessly hauling them through two countries as luggage. The focus for the sum-mer became accessibility. Money for the distribution of chairs quickly disappeared in the building of much needed ramps at the hacienda and surrounding homes along with UPS storage fees for an eagerly awaited container. The theme of the summer became Isaiah?:? His ways are not our ways. Sitting in Molino, right before 5 pm break, Lety usually fairly timid on the topic of accessibility, is fired up and passionate talking to Lisa, Kat, and Carmen about the cargo stuck at the border. "I say we protest with signs in Nuevo Lorado, with the press and every-thing! Would you like your people in the dirt or in chairs?" The others join this train of thought with grandious ideas of protest. Lisa suggests prayer. “Lord make it clear what we are to do, if it is nothing we know it is your wi% these peo-ple get these chairs. Let it be to your glory, the arrival of these chairs.” The chairs arrived on August 14th. With some help of the neighborly citizens of Dolores Hildago, the trailer (gigantic) was emptied in twenty minutes. We now have a lot of chairs and need Americans to distrib-ute. Prayers for the arrival of these folks. If it be on your heart to bring a group, let us know. [email protected]
