E-NEWS Wheelchair Distribution There was a nervousness within me as we approached the town; we could all see the group of people eagerly awaiting the gifts that were to be distributed. Mujeres Unidas Mazahua, a civil organization serving the pueblo of Los Lobos had asked for help from Mission Mazahua and The Mobility Project. Just four days earlier, Lisa Cortes and I had met with 16 individuals who were in desperate need of wheelchairs, and medical attention. On this day I would have to tell those individuals that with the limited volunteers available I would only be able to give away 8 wheelchairs. With a heavy weight on my heart,I had prayed over this decision. Who would be the eight with the most urgent need? Two stu- dents, Nancy and Diana, volunteered to skip school and help, Kat, Evelio, and Aldo excitedly came along as well. At the end of the day, only six of the original 16 were able to attend. Two additional mentally challenged children were discovered to be living only 200 yards from where we were working and they too needed chairs. All eight chairs were given away to those with the most urgent need, just as I had prayed about. HACIENDA TIME Roesch- We pray for groups but in reality it is a time for repairs, brainstorming, and resting in the hands of God. Opportunities to prepare for the winter camp, really talk to one another, and listen to God's will for this place. Praise God for this opportunity to trust in him and reflect on his many blessings. E-NEWSWheelchair Distribution

There was a nervousness within me as we approached the town; we could all see the group of people eagerly awaiting the gifts that were to be distributed. THE MYSTERY THAT GOD IS IN MY LIFEAldo- My personal growth in the experience of God in

my life, in the last years, could be defined as "learning to relate with the Mystery that God is (love, life, truth) and trying to let him express himself in the realities that surround me, through my self". This, of course, is a "walk in process", far away from being done and which I now understand is not to be finished while my life lasts. But the change I do recognize in this recent times is that, as an engineer, my profile and "training" have always pushed me to try to understand things, measure, calculate, predict and even control them. For most of my life, I have tended to apply this to myself as if I were a closed entity (my mind, my body, my soul, my dreams, fears, joys…), subject to MY own control. "Learning to relate to the mystery that God is" has meant realizing that, as the open, unfinished, weak, needed, sinner reality I actually am, that Mystery is to remain like that (not-understandable, unpredictable, uncontrollable…) but yet to not only

participate but also become the only path through which I shall conduct my life.

JUST A GAME

Roesch- Times can be difficult at the Hacienda. With he saids-she saids, as well as the work load, sometimes we need a break. It is a day when the sky is clear with a fierce blue and the mountains are like murals. In the sun everything is a sharp contrasts of color but the breeze keeps the heat at bay. The pool is in progress and the playground is still missing a few pieces of wood but the swing is fixed. Rooms are empty and the teens from Las Ro-sas return from a day in the gardens

and with the ceramics. They walk up the hill with odd smiles on their faces. Sofi calls up to my window "Come play!" I wander up to the soccer field by the kitchens and see a game of 10 verses 10 in play. Hacienda vs. Las Rosas. I insert myself as goalie and watch in amazement as the game un-folds. Luis who works with the horses has incredible feet and passes quick snaps of the ball to Ismael and Ma-rina. All the kids on the field practi-cally grew up with the Hacienda. From the 14 years of Luis and Miguel to the 30 plus years of Claudio, there

is an army of kids. Perhaps it is best put as family. Erica is now at Univer-sity, Evelio thinks about the future, Aldo hangs out here more, and pro-jects begin and finish. It is fun to see the fierce love and loyalty that is cre-ated from hard work and praise of the Lord. This month we had to lay off some 15 of these students. It is hard to have the place empty of camps and workers. It is a family a mission and a camp, but sometimes it's hard to see the line. That's how Christ wants it, our Christian family as family and our mission, a life closer to him.

MISSION MIRACLE Rosaura-I am a person that was born in a Christian home but at 5 years old my parents stopped going to church. As a consequence I grew up without the Word of Christ. At 21, I married in a Catholic church but I didn't feel any motiva-tion, I felt empty of Christ. Many things passed in my life and that resulted in a divorce. Alone with my three wonder-ful children, Gerardo, Alondra, and Sarai, God provided me with a job at Mission Mazahua in 2003. I knew Norberto and Lisa were wonderful people. In this place God has allowed me to better know the Word of God and fellowship with the amazing people that visit the Hacienda. I feel a great happiness in my heart to know both God and these visi-tors better. Mission Mazahua is a place of many blessings but over all, in the power of knowing the Word of God eve-ryday. I am happy! I GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR BEING AT MISSION MAZAHUA.

WORKER BIOAldo

Roesch-Aldo is a man with a story, he encountered the Lord's will in his life during quiet time at a Catholic camp held at the Mission in 1998. Stated simply, “Work with the poor.” He left the Hacienda and went back to life, but the Lord brought him full circle. When Aldo was sent to San Felipe to take pictures for a new financial branch, he encountered a familiar train track. Remembering the Hacienda he threw his camera in

the back and drove directly to MM. No one answered his knock so he went around back to his old sitting ground where God made his will clear for his life. Two years later he has been visiting off and on with increasing amounts of time devoted to the place the Lord has called him to be. WOW!
