At the National Guild of Hypnotists, ours is a tradition of connecting, networking, sharing, reaching out, and helping others. Ours is a Tradition of Excellence.
Page 2 Spanish writer, Jose Bergamin explains the word tradition, by saying, “Tradition simply means that we need to end what began well and continue what is worth continuing.” As you prepare to be part of the 2015 NGH Convention, we encourage you to contemplate all that the experience can mean for you. What can you gain? What can you share? What can you influence, inspire, envision, encourage, or create? How can you be fully involved and participate, helping to continue all that is so very worthy of continuing? The Latin origin of the word “contemplate” (con templum) describes the act of thoughtfully envisioning the grounds on which a temple will be built. Inherently sacred by definition, the process of contemplating your envisioned time at the 2015 NGH Convention takes you beyond marking days on your calendar, booking travel, packing a suitcase, or even the steps you may make in preparing to deliver a presentation or lead a class. As you reflect on your role as part of the Tradition of Excellence, challenge yourself to experience contemplation as a meditative process. Reflect on your thoughts about the people and events that await you in Marlborough, Massachusetts on August 7, 8, and 9. Push beyond your projected experience, connecting your thoughts and your energy with
that of others who will also be in attendance.
Individually and collectively, as the membership of NGH, you are the Tradition of Excellence,
continuing the commitment to the vision and intents upon which the National Guild of Hypnotists was founded
… 65 years ago.

Page 3 In July of 2013, as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate) made plans for the arrival of their first child, the media, including many mainstream publications, buzzed with speculation that the Duchess was exploring hypnosis re-laxation and visualization techniques to prepare herself for the experiences of child-birth. This spring, the conversation began anew as
the world awaited the coming of a second royal heir, who joined the royal family on May 2. Labor and delivery room details about the births of Prince George and two years later, Princess Charlotte, will likely always remain a “royal secret.” However, recognizing that their mother, the Duchess of Cambridge is known to prefer natural products and a holistic approach to wellness and personal care, it is easy to surmise that her preparations for the arrival of each royal baby may have included hypnosis relaxation techniques. On this side of the pond, (where Hollywood stars are often treated like royalty) actresses Jessica Alba and Tiffani Thiessen, as well as, fashion model Miranda Kerr, are among the many women who have spoken publically about their positive experience with pre-birthing hypnosis practices for deep relaxation during pregnancy and the labor and delivery process. Whether the issue for your clients is childbirth, infertility, smoking, overeating, sleep disruption, habituation, pain management, fear of public speaking, or any of a long list of other challenges, the problem interrupts that person’s quality of life, impacts happiness, and becomes... a royal pain.
