From the Principal…
This week I had the pleasure of representing our school community at the Goondiwindi State High School Leader
Investiture as well as attending our own School Leader Investiture. This gave me cause to reflect on my own journey as a leader and
think about what advice I could give, not only to our student leaders, but also to students who may not be in an official leadership
position, but can also be leaders in our community. I’d encourage you to also talk to your children about your experience as a leader
and which traits you believe are important for a leader.
Last Friday I was able to spend an hour at the pool cheering on our students at the Mac Zone Swimming Trials. Everyone swam their best and represented our school well and I’d like to congratulate Katie, Jordan, Tom and Ryan for making the Mac Zone team. These students will travel to Gatton on 6 March to compete at the next level and we wish them all the best. Thank you also to Mr McDonnell for supporting all of our swimmers at both carnivals. We had a great roll up to the P&C AGM this week, and also to the Music Sub-Committee AGM and I’m looking forward to working with
a fabulous team this year. Congratulations and a heartfelt thank you to Anita, Andrew, Emma, Caroline and Rachel in the P&C and also
to Kath, Anna, Shelley and Trish for volunteering your time to make a difference for our kids.
Next week, the biennial Queensland State School Principals’ Conference will be held in Brisbane from Monday to Wednesday and I will
be attending, along with the 1200+ other Principals from across Queensland. On Thursday I will also be out of the school, interviewing
for the Guidance Officer position for our school and the wider cluster. Mr Verney will be the Officer in Charge during my absence. Book
Fair is also on next week and I would encourage you to come along before or after school to browse and buy with your children.
There’s no better way to settle our children to bed but with a cosy story reading time. Next Friday is also Schools’ Clean Up Day and we
will be holding a whole school emu parade in the afternoon.
Warm regards
Marni Morrison
