From the beginning of my residency, I have worked relentlessly to become a minimally invasive surgeon.
Minimally invasive surgery aims at restoring function while decreasing the morbidity associated with surgery. This
translates into lower complication rates, improved recovery times and superior outcomes.
Some of the techniques used require advanced technologies such as intra-operative fluoroscopy.
ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital – Los Angeles is currently building dedicated, state-of-the-art operating rooms for that
very purpose!
Bone &Joint Center

Total HipReplacement

Total ElbowReplacement
Total KneeReplacement
Total AnkleReplacement
Many people are aware of total hip replacement, which is classically
used for mid to larger size dogs with severe hip dysplasia. Total hip
replacement is currently our standard of care for the treatment of
severe hip dysplasia, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, and intractable
luxations regardless of patient size. We can now perform joint
replacement options for all sizes including cats and miniature yorkies
providing better mobility and less pain than with excision
arthroplasty (FHO).
Our unique expertise in total joint replacement goes beyond the hip!
Indeed, we were involved in the development of the latest generation
total elbow replacement system (TATE) and have used it successfully
in clinical cases since 2008. This procedure can be offered to dogs of
medium to large breed with end-stage osteoarthritis.
In addition, for dogs with advanced stifle disease, we will perform
total knee replacement using standard, or at time custom implants
based on individual needs. We have a solid experience with this
system as we took part of several research and clinical studies on total
knee replacement.
As you can see, we are opening one of the very few comprehensive
total joint replacement programs in the country. This program is part
of the ACCESS Bone & Joint Center, and will offer solutions for stifles,
elbows and soon ankle. Our goal is to provide you, your clients, and
your patients with an access to best possible care in a friendly and
professional environment.
