What circumstances prompt us to hold these conversations here today and how does that define why you are here?
WHY WE ARE HERE• The world is not doing great
• The issues might be more serious than we can understand, and also more hopeful
• Because we believe the time is now for conscious human evolution
• To give you permission to do that work
• To offer and validate language that honors that work
• To hold a space where you can experience the possibilities
• To allow you to remember yourself because you already know what you need to know
Or . . . This is the way it is
BIASES, ASSUMPTIONS, AND IRRITANTS
LEADERSHIP• Is only a type of relationship
• Salvific and honorific
• Requiring authorship not authority
• Longing freedom, deliverance, and the greater good.
SUSTAINABILITY• Is the sacrosanct upholding of life
• Demanding consciousness
• Requiring evolution
• Transforming the world
• A sacred journey
• Making progress a meaningless concept.
TRANSFORMATION• Is an inside job
• Implying an ongoing awakening
• To constant awareness about oneself
• Always in deep relationship
• Consciously
• Towards togetherness.
ALCHEMICAL EQUATIONS• Awareness = attention + availability + hospitality
• Consciousness = awareness + affect + surrender
• Consciousness = evolution = transformation
• Sustainability = conscious togetherness + sacred connectedness
PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE• The age of ideas is over
• The age of freedom is here
• Requiring having nothing to defend
• Gifting living
• Inviting flow, not effort.

If the title of this conference is an imperative to uphold something that so far we have not been able to sustain into the future, it matters to be conscious of the answers to these questions:
a) Why have current notions of leadership proven insufficient to the task?
b) What essential qualities would you associate with a higher form of leadership?
c) Why is leadership required at all? And if not leadership, then what else?
