On the weekend of May 28th and 29th, we will be commissioning our Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist at all the Masses. We have 148 people who have been given permission by the Bishop to distribute the Eucharist for the

next two years. The brief commissioning rite will take place after the homily and it is for veteran ministers as well as the newly appointed ones. You will be called forward and Father will give you a special blessing. Please try to be there for one of the Masses. We very much appreciate and thank you for your willingness to serve in this very important liturgical ministry. God bless you.

Each year, OLP offers the opportunity for you to receive God’s healing blessing during our Anointing Mass. This service will take place during the 11:30 a.m.

Mass on Sunday, May 22nd. This is a wonderful opportunity for healing of the body, mind and spirit – please join us.

BAA Updates – After just 2 weeks, the parish is at 75% of its goal!!! Thank you! We still need 72% of the parish to submit a response. If you have not done so, please prayerfully consider your support of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal. All funds received in excess of the parish goal are returned to the parish. OLP recently received the 2015 campaign rebate of over $14,000.00. Your pledge matters. Help us to reach our goal.

Jubilee Year Of MercY

Welcome the Holy Spirit“When we welcome the Holy Spirit into our hearts and allow him to act, Christ makes himself present in us and takes shape in our lives; through us, it will be He – Christ Himself – who prays, forgives, gives hope and consolation, serves the brethren, draws close to the needy and to the least, creates community, and sows peace. How important this is: by means of the Holy Spirit, Christ Himself comes to do all this among us and for us.”

– Pope Francis, General Audience, January 29, 2014.

REFLECTION: Do you want to love more ardently? Serve more diligently? Forgive more willingly? The Holy Spirit can allow us to do these things if we open ourselves more to him. Come Holy Spirit; teach us to be like Christ. (Our Sunday Visitor).

The OLP Uniform Committee will hold its Spring Uniform Exchange on Sunday, May 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. This exchange is an opportunity to donate those items that your children have outgrown and select the items that you will need in the fall.

What is the Festival Raffle Ticket Sale? The Festival Raffle Ticket Sale raises money each year for Our Lady of Peace School! Proceeds of this sale benefit OLP to offset the cost of tuition, utilities and other school needs. |Parent Corner A former Stanford dean shared 8 skills everyone should have by age 18. She saw the things that were a “crutch” to success. Read the full article: facebook.com/olpelevate or olp-parish.org/youthministry Here is a glimpse:

1. Talk to Strangers: Faculty, advisers, landlords, human resource, coworkers, bank tellers, health care providers, bus drivers, mechanics. The crutch: We teach kids not to talk to strangers instead of teaching the more nuanced skill of how to discern the few bad strangers from the mostly good ones. Thus, kids end up not knowing how to approach strangers — respectfully and with eye contact — for the help, guidance, and direction they will need out in the world.

5. An 18-year-old must be able to handle interpersonal problems: The crutch: We step in to solve misunderstandings and soothe hurt feelings for them; thus, kids don't know how to cope with and resolve conflicts without our intervention.

7. An 18-year-old must be able to earn and manage money: The crutch: They don't hold part-time jobs; they receive money from parents for what ever they want or need; thus, kids don't develop a sense of responsibility for completing job tasks, accountability to a boss who doesn't inherently love them, or an appreciation for the cost of things and how to manage money.

We are in the process of making some CDs of Father Kavanagh’s Mission here at Our Lady of Peace. We need to find out how many would be interested in having this CD and how many would be interested in having a few that you could borrow, listen to and then return for the next person to hear. They are not the best quality but you can hear Father Kavanagh clearly and also the prayers and singing. If you are interested in having one of these CDs, please sign below and place it in the collection basket or give it to Sister Barbara. We are not sure of the cost of these yet but we will try to keep the cost to a minimum. Please let us know, no later than May 15, 2016.
