Pastor’s Corner

Me and my household…We will serve the Lord; We will serve the Lord…Me and my household!

This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ - commonly known as Corpus Christi. In the Eucharistic Prayer at every Mass the Church echoes the words of Christ at the Last Supper, "Take...eat of it...this is my body; take...drink...this is my blood....do this in memory of me." In a special way today, we do remember all that Jesus did for us, all that He left us (His word, the Church, & the Sacraments - especially His true presence in the Eucharist), and all that He taught and commanded us to do. When we receive the Lord in "communion" we are reaffirming our discipleship that we first committed to at our baptism. The Blessed Sacrament is one way that Christ fulfills His promise to be with us always and give us the nourishment & Grace so that we can fulfill our promise to live our life in Him. As we are fed with the Body and Blood of Christ we should be inspired and motivated to be Christ-like to others. That means we are to share what we receive so that all may be fed. Aware of this, at first we may think of our responsibility as a Christian to help those who lack food and drink; but we are also called, as a disciple, to nurture the lonely, the immigrant, the young or elderly, the spiritually poor, those dealing with addiction, and the list goes on and on. What a blessing for us who are privileged to partake of the one bread and the one cup to have the opportunity to share what God has given to us with those we encounter each day. "O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine."

Peace, Fr. Nick

Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

(Corpus Christi) “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” 1 CORINTHIANS 10:17 As disciples of Jesus, we are called to lead holy lives and invite others to join us. Living a Stewardship lifestyle, being grateful and generous with our gifts, serves a twofold purpose. One, it helps build God’s kingdom here on earth. Two, it is a road map to Heaven. Let’s help each other get there!
