Greetings everyone,
I want to encourage everyone to join us for the Annual Columbus Day Mass and Luncheon this Saturday, October 14th, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Mass will be celebrated in Italian at 11:00am followed by the luncheon at the Parish Activity Center. Reservation forms for the luncheon and details are available on the following pages of the bulletin. Join us as we celebrate Columbus Day.
Please remember that tomorrow (Monday, October 7th) is the Annual Golf Outing. Last minute reservations are still available. Join us for this great, fun-filled evening.
We will be once again taking the teens to the city for Christmas on Sunday, December 8th departing from Cortlandt Train Station at 7:15am. The day will include Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a tour of Rockefeller Center with the Christmas Tree and lunch at Virgil’s Barbecue Restaurant. Reservation forms are being emailed to our teens. The forms are also available in the Children’s Liturgy Room, in this bulletin and on our website. All reservations must be made by November 15th. I’m looking forward to being with all of you.. . The Finance Council will meet on Monday, October 14th at 7:30pm in the Rectory Conference Room. The vast portion of this meeting will be spent reviewing the Annual Financial Report which I will then share with the parish on Sunday, October 20th at all the Masses. As I look forward once again to a good and healthy report, I thank you all for your generosity throughout the year.
As mentioned in last week’s bulletin, over the course of the next few weeks, we will be printing prayers for particular groups of people affected deeply by life issues. Each week, we spotlight one group in particular for the homeless, the unborn, victims of terrorism, etc. You are encouraged to say the prayer with your families at the dinner hour, and/or at parish meetings. This week the prayer is for the addicted. May all those who struggle with addiction, their families and all those who help in recovery receive an abundance of graces from Almighty God.
Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and have broken relationships because of their attachment to the object of their addiction.
Restore to them the assurance of Your unfailing mercy, and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To those who care for them, grant patient understanding and a
love that perseveres. We ask this in Christ’s name. Amen
October is the month dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, particularly, Our Lady of the Rosary. I encourage all to pray this powerful and grace-filled devotion regularly. In order to help say the prayer, I have placed a Rosary “guide” pamphlet in the Children’s Liturgy Room. Next week I will have details about a prayer night this month celebrating Our Lady and the Rosary. Have a great week. God Bless, Fr. John
