Welcome to Term 4 Week 8. This week has been a big week for our Year 5 students and the rest of our school as we held our 2021 Leadership elections. I would like to congratulate all our nominees for their excellent speeches and the wonderful way they conducted themselves. The voting has now closed and the counting completed. We will make an announcement at the Presentation Day as to who the successful candidates are. I am very proud of our Year 5 students and their mature way of behaving during this process. They have displayed a level of maturity that is commendable. This week has seen the SRC hold a fun run/cake stall on our new playground. This was a great success and congratulations must go to our SRC representatives, Ms Piccin and Mr Atkinson for their organisation of this event. It’s wonderful to see our school being able to enjoy our beautiful grounds once again. Thank you everyone for a great afternoon of fun. The final Recognition Assembly will be held next Monday 7 December beginning at 9:30 am and will be held across our school via ZOOM due to Covid restrictions. We will be recording the assembly for you to watch. You will be able to see this via an unlisted YouTube link that will be communicated via the SchoolBag App. Students will remain in classrooms and we will present their awards in their class. Our Presentation Assembly will be similar with restrictions affecting how we can operate on that day. As these restrictions are changing frequently we are yet to finalise the format. We are planning four assemblies Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten) at 9:30 am. Stage 1 at 10:45 am. Stage 2 at 12:00 & Stage 3 at 1:15 pm on Monday 14 December at the Kingslangley Campus in our hall. At the moment we are awaiting confirmation to see if one member of the award recipient’s family may attend under the Covid guidelines. We will be filming the event for you to watch afterwards. More information will be distributed early next week. We have been filming performances and will be able to intersperse these in our assemblies so all the aspects of learning at Greenwich Public School can be showcased. Principal’s Message

Year 6 Fun Day – Next Friday 11 December

    Calling all Greenwich PS Students!!!

The Year 6 Fun Day will be held on the Kingslangley Rd Campus next Friday 11 December. This year, the fun day will be held in two separate sessions:

10 – 11:30 for students in Years K-2 (Students to begin day at Kingslangley Road)

    12 – 2 for students in Years 3-5

Students should bring a reasonable amount of money to school with them in a wallet that is clearly labelled with their name and class.

There will be a jumping castle, escape room, sock wrestling, fencing, raffles, guessing competitions, sausage sizzle and many food stalls selling drinks and snack items. Activities and food items will range from 50c for a guessing competition entry, to $3 for a sausage sandwich.

Students can also purchase Year 6 Fun Day themed t-shirts for $10 and notebooks for $5, which have been designed and produced by Year 5 students. Greenwich PS handballs will also be available for $5 as well as a small number of SOP toys.

All students K-2 will start their day on the Kingslangley Rd campus and walk back to Greenwich Rd after their session has ended. Lunch orders will still be available on the day.

The outgoing Year 6 students have been working hard to develop their stalls, price goods and services and source materials. It should be a fantastic day!

    2021 Student Leadership Team Elections

This Wednesday, all nominating Year 5 students presented their leadership speeches to students in Years 3-6. Congratulations to all of the girls and boys who showed the courage to stand in front of their peers and present their achievements, interests and ideas for the school for 2021. No matter the result, you are all exceptional candidates!

Amelia Rutherford Stage 3 Assistant Principal

    Class 5/6AR

Well what a year it has been! 2020 for our class has been a frenzy of not only literacy and numeracy activities, but also creative arts activities, ‘teach a lesson’ tasks, ‘Claymation,’ advertising and who could forget camp! With great pride and sadness, we get ready to farewell the Year 6 members of our class, but know that they will go onto high school and be the very best versions of themselves they can be.

    STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM NEWS

This week, our Stage 3 Handball Competition semi-finals and grand final took place. Congratulations to all the students who battled it out across each match, with Abigail J being crowned the winner.

We, the Student Leadership Team, would like to thank the students, teachers and parent community for their support. Despite the year being a challenging one, we have tried hard to make the student experience at the school a positive one.

As we get ready to hand over our positions, we want to wish the 2021 Student Leadership Team the best of luck, and know that they can continue to lead the students of Greenwich Public school in an outstanding manner.

    Strings Group

Last week our string group recorded the work for the year. We are immensely proud of the children for the way they have worked together this year to produce such a wonderful sound in such a challenging environment. Well Done!! Please enjoy the performance and let the kids spot their friends.

    String News

Hello, I’m Viola D, String Ensemble Captain for 2020. I’ve been playing the cello since Kindy. At Greenwich Public School, students who play the violin , viola, cello or double bass have the fun and exciting opportunity to participate in the String Ensemble.

We have beginners, as well as more experienced players in the group. We play interesting pieces each semester, perform in eisteddfods, and play at assemblies and other events.
