Our search for up to 15,000 of Scotland’s Finest and Friendliest Volunteers! Glasgow 2014 XX Commonwealth Games www.glasgow2014.com BE T H E G A M E S Intro Glasgow 2014 is looking for up to 15,000 of Scotland’s friendliest people who will give up their time to become the behind-the-scenes stars of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The volunteer application process is now open. To apply online visit www.Glasgow2014.com/volunteer. Applications will be open for a limited period only until the end of February 2013, so spread the word and get online now. Why Volunteer It’s all about having fun; when you hear some of the stories from volunteers from other Games, you realise that it’s an opportunity to be part of something pretty special. This will be Glasgow and Scotland’s biggest sporting and cultural event, and this is your chance to be part of making it a huge success. Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for up to 15,000 friendly people to become volunteers at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. So if you spent hours glued to your TV during the Olympics, this is your chance to be part of that kind of experience right here in Scotland. And who knows, you might be the lucky person who shows Sir Chris Hoy into his very own Velodrome. Or, one of the friendly folk making sure the stragglers get to the Opening Ceremony on time. Whatever role you take, it will involve commitment, flexibility and a wee bit of good humour. The roles we are looking for Not all of our roles will be high profile or in the front line. And many might be away from the athletes. They are all, however, crucial to making sure the Games run smoothly. Some roles will include welcoming athletes at the airport or athletes’ village, helping behind the scenes or directing people at the venues. There will also be specialist roles that need previous experience or qualifications in sport or first aid. But the vast majority of roles just need friendly folk, who are committed to helping make this the best show that Scotland has ever seen. You’ll have to give up some of your own time for training or take annual leave when the Games are on. And, you’ll need to cover your travel and accommodation costs. (At Games Time however, the cost of specific public transport around Glasgow venues will be covered for volunteers.) Applications open mid-January until 28 February 2013
