PAPI™ (Personality and Preference Inventory) is a leading work related personality assessment used by HR professionals and line managers to evaluate the behaviour and preferred work styles of individuals operating at all levels.
1
Through an interactive online questionnaire,
PAPI maps out an individual’s personality,
providing valuable information about their
preferences and typical behaviour at work.
This allows HR professionals to assess
whether an individual has the qualities
needed to be successful in a role, a team,
or a business culture and enables areas
for development to be identified.
Used by HR professionals for over forty
years, PAPI is a scientifically proven
assessment that helps facilitate in depth
dialogue. Through a concise, yet thorough
questionnaire that can be answered in
around 15 minutes, PAPI explores twenty
personality dimensions. These are clustered
into seven key areas; active dominance,
agreeableness, conscientious persistence,
openness to experience, seeking to achieve,
sociability and work tempo.
Gain Vital Insight for Selection Decisions
Recruiters use PAPI to assess the suitability
of candidates in terms of their personality,
competencies and their potential cultural fit
within the organisation. Reports generated
from PAPI offer hints and tips for HR
professionals and line managers to help
them prepare structured interviews and ask
focused questions.
This creates the opportunity for a frank and
open discussion as the interviewer explores
the results of the assessment.
Pinpoint Development Priorities
PAPI can also play a key role in staff
development initiatives, helping assess the
work style and behaviour of an individual.
PAPI profiles are presented visually in the
form of a PAPI wheel diagram, making it easy
to pinpoint where an individual may struggle
and discuss what action can be taken to
alleviate this.
Additionally, the profiles of team members
can be overlaid on a single PAPI wheel to
highlight the strengths and limitations of the
team, identify how team members interact
with one another and where gaps can be
closed to enhance team performance.
PAPI assessments are available with an
extensive range of reports and interview
guides that can be customised depending
on your requirements. Catering for a wide
selection of users, Cubiks offers jargon-
free overviews as well as more in-depth
interpretations of PAPI.

Reports can be generated for specific
groups of users, such as Narrative Reports
that give a concise interpretation of PAPI
for line managers to use in interviews. More
focused information can also be produced,
for example, in Coaching Reports which are
targeted for development purposes.
Define the Ideal Profile
Role requirements must be defined prior to
assessment, so that candidates who have
been assessed can be matched to the role
by suitability for these criteria. PAPI Job
Profiler questionnaires can be administered
amongst a number of job experts within your
company to generate an ideal role profile.
Alternatively PAPI can be matched with
competencies identified by your organisation.
