Rice Bowl is more than a cute cardboard box! CRS Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program for families and faith communities in the United States who want to put their faith into ac-tion. Participants journey through the 40 days of

Lent with a collection of daily reflections and activities included in the CRS Rice Bowl calendar and on the mobile app. Through CRS Rice Bowl, partici-pants are invited to hear stories about their brothers and sisters in need around the world, and devote their Lenten prayers, fasting and alms to change the lives of those who suffer in poverty. Our United States Conference of Cath-olic Bishops’ website tells us that “Catholic social teaching proclaims that we are our brothers' and sisters' keepers, wherever they live. We are one human family, whatever our national, racial, ethnic, economic, and ideological differ-ences. Learning to practice the virtue of solidarity means learning that ‘loving our neighbor’ has global dimensions in an interdependent world. This virtue is described by John Paul II as ‘a firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good; that is to say to the good of all and of each indi-vidual, because we are all really responsible for all’ (Sollicitudo Rei Social-is)” Look for Rice Bowls at your parish or school and find more information at http://www.crsricebowl.org/
