FIRST READING Acts 2:1-11

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 104:1, 24, 29-31, 34 Jeff Ostrowski

Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD, my God, you are great indeed! How manifold are your works, O LORD! The earth is full of your creatures. ℟

May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD be glad in his works! Pleasing to him be my theme; I will be glad in the LORD. ℟

If you take away their breath, they perish and return to their dust. When you send forth your spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. ℟

SECOND READING 1 Corinthians 12:3b-7, 12-13 SEQUENCE Veni Sancte Spiritus

chant, mode I • Jehan Revert

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Alleluia chant, mode VI

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. ℟

Liturgy of the Word

Veni Sancte Spiritus et emitte caelitus lucis tuae radium. Veni pater pauperum, veni dator munerum, veni lumen cordium.

Consolator optime, dulcis hospes animae, dulce refrigerium. In labore requies, in aestu temperies, in fletu solacium.

O lux beatissima, reple cordis intima tuorum fidelium.

Amen. Alleluia.

Come, Holy Spirit, and send down from heaven the ray of your light. Come, father of the poor, come, giver of gifts, come, light of the hearts.

Best consoler, sweet host of the soul, sweet refresher. Rest in work, cooling in heat, comfort in crying.

O most blessed light, fill the innermost hearts of your faithful. Without your power nothing is in man, nothing innocent.

Clean what is dirty, water what is dry, heal what is wounded. Bend what is rigid, heat what is cold, lead what has gone astray.

Grant to your faithful who trust in you, your sevenfold holy gift. Grant us the reward of virtue, grant us final salvation, grant us eternal joy. Amen. Alleluia.

GOSPEL John 20:19-23

HOMILY

CREED

I believe in one God the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God, from true God,

Begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven.

At the words that follow, up to and including and became man, all bow.

And by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,

And rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins,

and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

Dum complerentur dies Pentecostes, erant omnes pariter dicentes alleluia. Et subito factus est sonus de caelo, alleluia, tamquam spiritus vehementis, et replevit totam domum, alleluia.

When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house, alleluia.

DISTRIBUTION OF COMMUNION COMMUNION ANTIPHON Factus est repente

chant, mode VII

COMMUNION MOTET O Thou Who Camest from Above Philip W. Stopford

O Thou who camest from above the pure celestial fire to impart, kindle the flame of sacred love on the mean altar of my heart.

There let it for thy glory burn with inextinguishable blaze, and trembling to its source return in humble prayer and fervent praise.

Jesus, confirm my hearts desire to work and speak and think for thee: still let me guard the holy fire, and still stir up thy gift in me.

Still let me prove thy perfect will, my acts of faith and love repeat; till death thy endless mercies seal, and make the sacrifice complete.

Factus est repente de cælo sonus advenientis spiritus vehementis, ubi erant sedentes, alleluia: et repleti sunt omnes Spiritu Sancto, loquentes magnalia Dei, alleluia, alleluia.

Suddenly, a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, in the place where they were sitting, alleluia; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and announced the great things God had done, alleluia, alleluia.

For those unable to receive the Blessed Sacrament at Mass, the ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Sacrament

allows you to share in the graces of Christ’s sacrifice:

O my Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot receive you sacramentally at this moment, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there, and I united myself wholly to you.

Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
