The Bah{’í Faith is the newest of the world
religions. Only recently has the public come to
recognize that it is, in fact a major religion - one
worthy of study and reflection.
The Bah{’í Faith began in Persia (now Iran) in the
middle of the nineteenth century. It was directly
preceded by the Bábí Faith, founded in 1844 by the
B{b, whose name means ‚Gate‛ or ‚Door‛. He
foretold the coming of a new Prophet of God, just
as John the Baptist had foretold the coming of
Christ.
In 1863, a distinguished Persian nobleman
announced that He was not only the One promised
by the Báb, but also the Promised One of all the
world’s religions, Who would usher in an age of
peace for all humankind. His name was
Bah{’u’ll{h, which means ‚the Glory of God‛.
Bah{’u’ll{h called upon women and men to give up
their prejudices and to recognize the brotherhood
of all mankind as children of one loving God. He
said the time had come for humanity to unite under
a common faith. He revealed a plan for world
civilization to be built on a foundation of love and
justice.
Among the most fundamental of Bah{’u’ll{h’s
teachings are :
There is only one God.
All religions share a common foundation.
Mankind is one. People of all races, nations,
economic groups and religious backgrounds
are equal in the sight of God.
Each individual is responsible for
investigating truth for himself.
Science and religion harmonize. Science
without religion is materialism – religion
without science is superstition.
Men and women are equal, like the two
wings of one bird.
Each child is entitled to a sound, basic
education.
There is a spiritual solution to economic
problems.
The world needs an international, auxiliary
language.
We must establish a universal peace protected
by a world commonwealth.
People of all backgrounds, as Bah{’ís, are striving
to develop the potential to rise above the division
and prejudice of the world to become lovers of
mankind.Overview of the Bahá‟í Faith

Who is Baha’u’llah?
BCF, Page 7 1996-2009, HearttoHeartPublications.com, LLC
Who is Bahá‟u‟lláh?
Bah{’ís believe that Bah{’u’ll{h is the Messenger of God for this
day. His teachings are the basis of the Bah{’í Faith, whose primary
aim is the unity of mankind.
Born in 1817, Bah{’u’ll{h was a member of one of the great
patrician families of Persia. The family could trace its lineage to
the ruling dynasties of Persia's imperial past, and was endowed
with wealth and vast estates. Turning His back on the position at
court which these advantages offered Him, Bah{’u’ll{h became
known for His generosity and kindliness which made Him deeply
loved among His countrymen.
Engulfed in the waves of violence unleashed upon the Bábis after
the Báb's execution Bah{’u’ll{h suffered not only the loss of all
His worldly endowments but was subjected to imprisonment,
torture, and a series of banishments. The first was to Baghdad
where, in 1863, He announced Himself as the One promised by
the Báb. From Baghdad, Bah{’u’ll{h was sent to Constantinople, to
Adrianople, and finally to Acre, in the Holy Land, where He
arrived as a prisoner in 1868. He stayed a prisoner until his
passing.
Bah{’u’ll{h passed away in 1892 at Bahji, just north of Acre, and is
buried there. His message has spread to every country on earth.
His Shrine is today the focal point of the Bah{’í world.

Does Bahá‟u‟lláh declare that He represents God to mankind?
In mine hand I carry the testimony of God, your Lord and the Lord
of your sires of old. Weigh it with the just Balance that ye possess,
the Balance of the testimony of the Prophets and Messengers of
God. If ye find it to be established in truth, if ye believe it to be of
God, beware, then, lest ye cavil at it, and render your works vain….

BCF, Page 9 1996-2009, HearttoHeartPublications.com, LLC
Are the original Writings of Bahá‟u‟lláh available?
Bah{’u’ll{h authored thousands of books, tablets, and letters that today comprise
the sacred scripture of the Bah{’í Faith. A unique feature of the revelation of
Bah{’u’ll{h is the authenticity of its scripture. Unlike the teachings of Christ, for
example, which were written down by others decades after they were uttered, the
words of Bah{’u’ll{h were recorded and authenticated at the time they were
revealed….
The original manuscripts of Bah{’u’ll{h’s writings, some written in His own hand
and others meticulously transcribed by His personal secretaries, are today kept at
the Bah{’í World Center in Haifa, Israel, in a vault equipped with state-of-the-art
environmental control technology. Researchers at the Center for the Study of the
Texts are charged with organizing and indexing the thousands of documents in the
collection and producing translations, compilations and commentaries.

Some Principles to sustaina peaceful global community

The earth is one country
It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own
country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world.
The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens.

Universal Peace
The time must come when the imperative necessity for the holding of a vast,
an all-embracing assemblage of men will be universally realized. The rulers and
kings of the earth must needs attend it, and, participating in its deliberations,
must consider such ways and means as will lay the foundations of the world's
Great Peace amongst men. Such a peace demandeth that the Great Powers
should resolve, for the sake of the tranquility of the peoples of the earth, to be
fully reconciled among themselves. Should any king take up arms against
another, all should unitedly arise and prevent him. If this be done, the nations
of the world will no longer require any armaments, except for the purpose of
preserving the security of their realms and of maintaining internal order within
their territories.
Bahá‟u‟lláh, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 248
BP, Page 13 1996-2009, HearttoHeartPublications.com, LLC
An international auxiliary language
The day is approaching when all the peoples of the world will have adopted one universal language and one common script. When this is achieved, to whatsoever city a man may journey, it shall be as if he were entering his own home. These things are obligatory and absolutely essential. It is incumbent upon every man of insight and understanding to strive to translate that which hath been written into reality and action…. That one indeed is a man who, today, dedicateth himself to the service of the entire human race.
Bahá‟u‟lláh, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 249
In the coming ages, two languages will be taught in the schools, one the native tongue, the other an international auxiliary language. Consider today how difficult is human communication. Had this universal language pervaded the globe, I should have studied it and you would have been directly informed of my thoughts and I of yours and a special friendship would have been established between us.

Global standards
A world script, a world literature, a uniform and universal system of
currency, of weights and measures, will simplify and facilitate
intercourse and understanding among the nations and races of mankind.

What is the role of the Faith of Bahá‟u‟lláh?
…in this day *humanity+ must find a way for individual spiritual values to be
raised to the higher level of governments and international values. That is the
role of the Faith of Bah{’u’ll{h. "Its message is applicable not only to the
individual, but concerns itself primarily with the nature of those essential
relationships that must bind all the states and nations as members of one human
family."
Shoghi Effendi, The World Order of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 43

What is the call of Bahá‟u‟lláh to mankind?
The call of Bah{’u’ll{h is primarily directed against all forms of
provincialism, all insularities and prejudices. If long-cherished ideals and
time-honored institutions, if certain social assumptions and religious
formulae have ceased to promote the welfare of the generality of mankind, if
they no longer minister to the needs of a continually evolving humanity, let
them be swept away and relegated to the limbo of obsolescent and forgotten
doctrines. Why should these, in a world subject to the immutable law of
change and decay, be exempt from the deterioration that must needs overtake
every human institution? For legal standards, political and economic theories
are solely designed to safeguard the interests of humanity as a whole, and not
humanity to be crucified for the preservation of the integrity of any particular
law or doctrine.

What is the Most Great Peace?
"…these ruinous wars shall pass away, and the 'Most Great Peace' shall come…. These strifes and this bloodshed and discord must cease, and all men be as one kindred and one family." "Soon," He predicts, "will the present-day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead." "After a time," He also has written, "all the governments on earth will change. Oppression will envelop the world. And following a universal convulsion, the sun of justice will rise from the horizon of the unseen realm." "The whole earth," He, moreover, has stated, "is now in a state of pregnancy. The day is approaching when it will have yielded its noblest fruits, when from it will have sprung forth the loftiest trees, the most enchanting blossoms, the most heavenly blessings." "All nations and kindreds," ‘Abdu’l-Bahá likewise has written, "…will become a single nation. Religious and sectarian antagonism, the hostility of races and peoples, and differences among nations, will be eliminated."
Shoghi Effendi, The Promised Day is Come, p. 116
The Most Great Peace, on the other hand, as conceived by Bah{’u’ll{h -- a peace that must inevitably follow as the practical consequence of the spiritualization of the world and the fusion of all its races, creeds, classes and nations -- can rest on no other basis, and can be preserved through no other agency, except the divinely appointed ordinances that are implicit in the World Order that stands associated with His Holy Name. In His Tablet, revealed almost seventy years ago to Queen Victoria, Bah{’u’ll{h, alluding to this Most Great Peace, has declared: "That which the Lord hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and mightiest instrument for the healing of all the world is the union of all its peoples in one universal Cause, one common Faith. This can in no wise be achieved except through the power of a skilled, an all-powerful and inspired Physician. This, verily, is the truth, and all else naught but error… Consider these days in which the Ancient Beauty, He Who is the Most Great Name, hath been sent down to regenerate and unify mankind.

What is the Lesser Peace?
… the great Plan of God *is+ tumultuous in its progress, working through mankind as a
whole, tearing down barriers to world unity and forging humankind into a unified body
in the fires of suffering and experience. This process will produce in God's due time, the
Lesser Peace, the political unification of the world. Mankind at that time can be likened
to a body that is unified but without life. The second process, the task of breathing life
into this unified body -- of creating true unity and spirituality culminating in the Most
Great Peace -- is that of the Bah{’ís, who are labouring consciously, with detailed
instructions and continuing divine guidance, to erect the fabric of the Kingdom of God
on earth, into which they call their fellowmen, thus conferring upon them eternal life.

What is the two-fold process that is driving world events?
Disruptive Forces:The Arms Race
The International Finance System
Widespread Chronic Unemployment
Decline of Timeworn Religions
Spread of Violence and Terrorism
A twofold process, however, can be distinguished, each tending, in its
own way and with an accelerated momentum, to bring to a climax the
forces that are transforming the face of our planet. The first is
essentially an integrating process, while the second is fundamentally
disruptive.

Will nation-building always exist?
Unification of the whole of mankind is the hall-mark of the stage which human
society is now approaching. Unity of family, of tribe, of city-state, and nation have
been successively attempted and fully established. World unity is the goal
towards which a harassed humanity is striving. Nation-building has come to an
end.
The anarchy inherent in state sovereignty is moving towards a climax.

Will this new system of governance be built around nation states?
Let there be no misgivings as to the animating purpose of the world-wide Law of
Bah{’u’ll{h. Far from aiming at the subversion of the existing foundations of society, it seeks
to broaden its basis, to remold its institutions in a manner consonant with the needs of an
ever-changing world. It can conflict with no legitimate allegiances, nor can it undermine
essential loyalties. Its purpose is neither to stifle the flame of a sane and intelligent
patriotism in men's hearts, nor to abolish the system of national autonomy so essential if the
evils of excessive centralization are to be avoided. It does not ignore, nor does it attempt to
suppress, the diversity of ethnical origins, of climate, of history, of language and tradition, of
thought and habit, that differentiate the peoples and nations of the world. It calls for a wider
loyalty, for a larger aspiration than any that has animated the human race. It insists upon the
subordination of national impulses and interests to the imperative claims of a unified world.
It repudiates excessive centralization on one hand, and disclaims all attempts at uniformity
on the other. Its watchword is unity in diversity such as ‘Abdu’l-Bahá Himself has
explained.

The need for a universal system of values
Because mankind has developed into a global society, this society is in need of a global
code of ethics…. This world only has a chance of survival if it is endowed with a
common, universal standard of values, ideals and goals.
A reconstruction of morals can only derive from a living faith…. If they are not in
contradiction to reason, but at the same time are immune to criticism, that means if they
are based on God as the Lawgiver. Nothing but such a morality can ever hope to
overcome the pluralism and relativism of all concepts prevailing in the world
nowadays…

Women and world peace?
So it will come to pass that when women participate fully and equally in the affairs of the world, when
they enter confidently and capably the great arena of laws and politics, war will cease; for woman will
be the obstacle and hindrance to it. This is true and without doubt.
… In reality, God has created all mankind, and in the estimation of God there is no distinction as to male
and female. The one whose heart is pure is acceptable in His sight, be that one man or woman. God does
not inquire "Art thou woman or art thou man?" He judges human actions. If these are acceptable in the
threshold of the Glorious One, man and woman will be equally recognized and rewarded….
The world of humanity consists of two parts: male and female. Each is the complement of the other.
Therefore, if one is defective, the other will necessarily be incomplete, and perfection cannot be
attained.…Just as physical accomplishment is complete with two hands, so man and woman, the two
parts of the social body, must be perfect. It is not natural that either should remain undeveloped; and
until both are perfected, the happiness of the human world will not be realized.

How can lasting peace be established in a World Commonwealth?
The fundamental principle underlying this solemn Pact should be so
fixed that if any government later violate any one of its provisions, all
the governments on earth should arise to reduce it to utter
submission, nay the human race as a whole should resolve, with
every power at its disposal, to destroy that government. Should this
greatest of all remedies be applied to the sick body of the world, it
will assuredly recover from its ills and will remain eternally safe and
secure.
„Abdu‟l-Bahá, Secret of Divine Civilization, p. 65
The “Ism’s” of the world
The chief idols in the desecrated temple of mankind are none other than the triple gods of Nationalism, Racialism and Communism, at whose altars governments and peoples, whether democratic or totalitarian, at peace or at war, of the East or of the West, Christian or Islamic, are, in various forms and in different degrees, now worshiping. Their high priests are the politicians and the worldly-wise, the so-called sages of the age; their sacrifice, the flesh and blood of the slaughtered multitudes; their incantations outworn shibboleths and insidious and irreverent formulas; their incense, the smoke of anguish that ascends from the lacerated hearts of the bereaved, the maimed, and the homeless.

How did Bahá‟u‟lláh address the Kings and Rulers of the Earth?
Ye are but vassals, O Kings of the earth! He Who is the King of kings hath
appeared, arrayed in His most wondrous glory, and is summoning you
unto Himself, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. Take heed lest pride
deter you from recognizing the Source of Revelation; lest the things of this
world shut you out as by a veil from Him Who is the Creator of heaven….
The treasures ye have laid up have drawn you far away from your ultimate
objective…. Wash your hearts from all earthly defilements, and hasten to
enter the Kingdom of your Lord, the Creator of earth and heaven….

The light of the spirit shineth in the black pupil of the eye
O thou who hast an illumined heart! Thou art even as the pupil of the eye, the very
wellspring of the light, for God's love hath cast its rays upon thine inmost being and
thou hast turned thy face toward the Kingdom of thy Lord.
Intense is the hatred, in America, between black and white, but my hope is that the
power of the Kingdom will bind these two in friendship, and serve them as a healing
balm.
Let them look not upon a man's color but upon his heart. If the heart be filled with light,

A long and thorny road, beset with pitfalls, still remains untraveled, both by the white and the Negro exponents of the redeeming Faith of Bahá'u'lláh. "If ye pay no heed unto the counsels which, in peerless and unequivocal language, We have revealed in this Tablet, Divine chastisement shall assail you from every direction, and the sentence of His justice shall be pronounced against you. On that day ye shall have no power to resist Him, and shall recognize your own impotence. Have mercy on yourselves and on those beneath you, and judge ye between them according to the precepts prescribed by God in His most holy and exalted Tablet, a Tablet wherein He hath assigned to each and every thing its settled measure, in which He hath given, with distinctness, an explanation of all things, and which is in itself a monition unto them that believe in Him.

What did Bahá‟u‟lláh write to the French Emperor Napoleon III?
O KING of Paris! Tell the priest to ring the bells no longer. By
God, the True One! The Most Mighty Bell hath appeared in the
form of Him Who is the Most Great Name, and the fingers of the
will of Thy Lord, the Most Exalted, the Most High, toll it out in
the heaven of Immortality, in His name, the All-Glorious…. Say:
He Who is the Unconditioned is come, in the clouds of light…
O King! We heard the words thou didst utter in answer to the
Czar of Russia, concerning the decision made regarding the war
(Crimean War)…. Thou didst say: 'I lay asleep upon my couch,
when the cry of the oppressed, who were drowned in the Black
Sea, wakened me.‘…. We testify that that which wakened thee
was not their cry but the promptings of thine own passions….
For what thou hast done, thy kingdom shall be thrown into
confusion, and thine empire shall pass from thine hands, as a
punishment for that which thou hast wrought…. Hath thy pomp
made thee proud? By My Life! It shall not endure; nay, it shall
soon pass away….Bahá‟u‟lláh, The Proclamation of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 22
Fall from power of French Emperor Napoleon III and consequent loss of his empire
For what thou hast done, thy kingdom shall be thrown into confusion, and thine empire shall pass from thine hands, as a punishment for that which thou hast wrought. Then wilt thou know how thou hast plainly erred. Commotions shall seize all the people in that land, unless thou arisest to help this Cause, and followest Him Who is the Spirit of God (Jesus Christ) in this, the Straight Path. Hath thy pomp made thee proud? By My Life! It shall not endure; nay, it shall soon pass away, unless thou holdest fast by this firm Cord. We see abasement hastening after thee, whilst thou art of the heedless. It behoveth thee when thou hearest His Voice calling from the seat of glory to cast away all that thou possessest, and cry out: 'Here am I, O Lord of all that is in heaven and all that is on earth!'

What did Bahá‟u‟lláh write to Iran‟s Nasiri„d-Din Shah?
O KING! I was but a man like others, asleep upon My couch, when lo, the
breezes of the All-Glorious were wafted over Me, and taught Me the
knowledge of all that hath been. This thing is not from Me, but from One Who
is Almighty and All-Knowing. And He bade Me lift up My voice between
earth and heaven, and for this there befell Me what hath caused the tears of
every man of understanding to flow….
Can any one speak forth of his own accord that for which all men, both high
and low, will protest against him? Nay, by Him Who taught the Pen the eternal
mysteries, save him whom the grace of the Almighty, the All-Powerful, hath
strengthened….
I have seen, O Shah, in the path of God what eye hath not seen nor ear heard…
How numerous the tribulations which have rained, and will soon rain, upon
Me…
By God! Though weariness lay Me low, and hunger consume Me, and the bare
rock be My bed, and My fellows the beasts of the field, I will not complain,
but will endure patiently as those endued with constancy and firmness have
endured patiently, through the power of God, the Eternal King and Creator of
the nations, and will render thanks unto God under all conditions. We pray
that, out of His bounty -- exalted be He -- He may release, through this
imprisonment, the necks of men from chains and fetters, and cause them to
turn, with sincere faces, towards His Face, Who is the Mighty, the Bounteous.
Ready is He to answer whosoever calleth upon Him, and nigh is He unto such
as commune with Him.

Warning to Nasirid-Din-Shah of Persia
Would that the world-adorning wish of His Majesty might decree that this Servant be brought face to face with the divines of the age, and produce proofs and testimonies in the presence of His Majesty the Shah! This Servant is ready, and taketh hope in God, that such a gathering may be convened in order that the truth of the matter may be made clear and manifest before His Majesty the Shah. It is then for thee to command, and I stand ready before the throne of thy sovereignty. Decide, then, for Me or against Me.

Advent of constitutional governance in Persia
"This prophecy, so clearly and evidently stated, printed and published, is well-known among the people. Therefore, when the Constitution was granted in Persia, the mullas who took the Royalist side proclaimed from the pulpit that 'whosoever accepted the Constitution had necessarily accepted the Bahá'í Religion, because the Head of this Religion, His Holiness Bahá'u'lláh, had prophesied this in His Book, and the Bahá'ís are agitators and promoters of Constitutionalism. They have brought about the Constitution in order to fulfil the prophecy made by their Chief. Therefore, beware, beware lest ye accept it!'

Break up and extinction of the Ottoman Empire
The day is approaching when the Land of Mystery [Adrianople] and what is beside it shall be changed, and shall pass out of the hands of the King, and commotions shall appear, and the voice of lamentation shall be raised, and the evidences of mischief shall be revealed on all sides, and confusion shall spread by reason of that which hath befallen these captives at the hands of the hosts of oppression. The course of things shall be altered, and conditions shall wax so grievous, that the very sands on the desolate hills will moan, and the trees on the mountain will weep, and blood will flow out of all things. Then wilt thou behold the people in sore distress.

What did Bahá‟u‟lláh write to Russia‟s Czar Alexander II?
O CZAR of Russia! Incline thine ear unto the voice of God, the King, the Holy, and turn thou
unto Paradise,…' He Who is the Father is come, and the Son (Jesus), in the holy vale, crieth out:
'Here am I, here am I, O Lord, My God!' whilst Sinai circleth round the House, and the Burning
Bush calleth aloud: 'The All-Bounteous is come mounted upon the clouds! Blessed is he that
draweth nigh unto Him, and woe betide them that are far away.'
Arise thou amongst men in the name of this all-compelling Cause, and summon, then, the
nations unto God, the Exalted, the Great. Be thou not of them who called upon God by one of
His names, but who, when He Who is the Object of all names appeared, denied Him and turned
aside from Him, and, in the end, pronounced sentence against Him with manifest injustice….
I am the One Whom the tongue of Isaiah hath extolled, the One with Whose name both the
Torah and the Evangel were adorned…. Blessed be the king whose sovereignty hath withheld
him not from his Sovereign, and who hath turned unto God with his heart….

Rise and spread of Communism to a world power
"The ills from which the world now suffers," wrote 'Abdu'l-Bahá in January, 1920, "will multiply; the gloom which envelops it will deepen. The Balkans will remain discontented. Its restlessness will increase. The vanquished Powers will continue to agitate. They will resort to every measure that may rekindle the flame of war. Movements, newly-born and world-wide in their range, will exert their utmost effort for the advancement of their designs. The Movement of the Left will acquire great importance. Its influence will spread."
Shoghi Effendi quoting Abdu’l Baha in The World Order of Baha'u'llah, p. 30
Fall of Communism
… absolute equality is just as impossible, for absolute equality in fortunes, honors, commerce, agriculture, industry, would end in a want of comfort, in discouragement, in disorganization of the means of existence, and in universal disappointment: the order of the community would be quite destroyed.

How did Bahá‟u‟lláh address Great Britain‟s Queen Victoria?
O QUEEN in London! Incline thine ear unto the voice of thy Lord,
the Lord of all mankind…. He, in truth, hath come unto the world
in His most great glory, and all that hath been mentioned in the
Gospel hath been fulfilled….
Lay aside thy desire, and set then thine heart towards thy Lord, the
Ancient of Days. We make mention of thee for the sake of God, and
desire that thy name may be exalted through thy remembrance of
God, the Creator of earth and heaven…. We have been informed
that thou hast forbidden the trading in slaves, both men and
women. This, verily, is what God hath enjoined in this wondrous
Revelation. God hath, truly, destined a reward for thee, because of
this.…
We have also heard that thou hast entrusted the reins of counsel
into the hands of the representatives of the people. Thou, indeed,
hast done well, for thereby the foundations of the edifice of thine
affairs will be strengthened, and the hearts of all that are beneath
thy shadow, whether high or low, will be tranquillized….

What did Bahá‟u‟lláh write to the world‟s religious leaders?
O leaders of religion! Weigh not the Book of God with such standards and sciences as are current amongst you, for the Book itself is the unerring balance established amongst men. In this most perfect balance whatsoever the peoples and kindreds of the earth possess must be weighed, while the measure of its weight should be tested according to its own standard, did ye but know it….
O ye leaders of religion! Who is the man amongst you that can rival Me in vision or insight? Where is he to be found that dareth to claim to be My equal in utterance or wisdom? No, by My Lord, the All-Merciful! All on the earth shall pass away; and this is the face of your Lord, the Almighty, the Well-Beloved.
O concourse of divines! When My verses were sent down, and My clear tokens were revealed, We found you behind the veils.
Those divines…who are truly adorned with the ornament of knowledge and of a goodly character are, verily, as a head to the body of the world, and as eyes to the nations. The guidance of men hath, at all times, been and is dependent upon these blessed souls.

What did Bahá‟u‟lláh write to Pope Pius IX?
O Pope! Rend the veils asunder. He Who is the Lord of
Lords is come overshadowed with clouds, and the decree
hath been fulfilled by God, the Almighty, the
Unrestrained…. He, verily, hath again come down from
Heaven even as He came down from it the first time.
Beware that thou dispute not with Him even as the
Pharisees disputed with Him (Jesus) without a clear token
or proof. On His right hand flow the living waters of grace,
and on His left the choice Wine of justice, whilst before
Him march the angels of Paradise, bearing the banners of
His signs. Beware lest any name debar thee from God, the
Creator of earth and heaven. Leave thou the world behind
thee, and turn towards thy Lord, through Whom the whole
earth hath been illumined…Arise in the name of thy Lord,
the God of Mercy, amidst the peoples of the earth, and seize
thou the Cup of Life with the hands of confidence, and first
drink thou therefrom, and proffer it then to such as turn
towards it amongst the peoples of all faiths….

Arts and Sciences
Arts and Sciences not to overleap the bounds of moderation
Whoso cleaveth to justice, can, under no circumstances, transgress the limits of moderation. He discerneth the truth in all things…. The civilization, so often vaunted by the learned exponents of arts and sciences, will, if allowed to overleap the bounds of moderation, bring great evil upon men. Thus warneth you He Who is the All-Knowing. If carried to excess, civilization will prove as prolific a source of evil as it had been of goodness when kept within the restraints of moderation. Meditate on this, O people, and be not of them that wander distraught in the wilderness of error. The day is approaching when its flame will devour the cities…

An explosive acceleration ofscientific and technological discoveries
Every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God is endowed with such potency as can instill new life into every human frame, if ye be of them that comprehend this truth. All the wondrous works ye behold in this world have been manifested through the operation of His supreme and most exalted Will, His wondrous and inflexible Purpose…No sooner is this resplendent word uttered, than its animating energies, stirring within all created things, give birth to the means and instruments whereby such arts can be produced and perfected. All the wondrous achievements ye now witness are the direct consequences of the Revelation of this Name. In the days to come, ye will, verily, behold things of which ye have never heard before. Thus hath it been decreed in the Tablets of God, and none can comprehend it except them whose sight is sharp. In like manner, the moment the word expressing My attribute "The Omniscient" issueth forth from My mouth, every created thing will, according to its capacity and limitations, be invested with the power to unfold the knowledge of the most marvelous sciences, and will be empowered to manifest them in the course of time at the bidding of Him Who is the Almighty, the All-Knowing. Know thou of a certainty that the Revelation of every other Name is accompanied by a similar manifestation of Divine power. Every single letter proceeding out of the mouth of God is indeed a mother letter, and every word uttered by Him Who is the Well Spring of Divine Revelation is a mother word, and His Tablet a Mother Tablet. Well is it with them that apprehend this truth.

How will the Lesser Peace come about?
The Lesser Peace will come about through a binding treaty among the nations for the
political unification of the world. It will involve fixing every nation's boundaries,
strictly limiting the size of armaments, laying down the principles underlying the
relations among governments, and ascertaining all international agreements and
obligations.

The achievement of transmutation of elements
Then it is evident that in the beginning matter was one, and that one matter appeared in different aspects in each element. Thus various forms were produced, and these various aspects as they were produced became permanent, and each element was specialized. But this permanence was not definite, and did not attain realization and perfect existence until after a very long time. Then these elements became composed, and organized and combined in infinite forms; or rather from the composition and combination of these elements innumerable beings appeared. This composition and arrangement, through the wisdom of God and His preexistent might, were produced from one natural organization, which was composed and combined with the greatest strength, conformable to wisdom, and according to a universal law. From this it is evident that it is the creation of God, and is not a fortuitous composition and arrangement. This is why from every natural composition a being can come into existence, but from an accidental composition no being can come into existence.

No evidence for Missing Link will ever be found
But from the beginning of man's existence he is a distinct species. In the same way, the embryo of man in the womb of the mother was at first in a strange form; then this body passes from shape to shape, from state to state, from form to form, until it appears in utmost beauty and perfection. But even when in the womb of the mother and in this strange form, entirely different from his present form and figure, he is the embryo of the superior species, and not of the animal; his species and essence undergo no change. Now, admitting that the traces of organs which have disappeared actually exist, this is not a proof of the impermanence and the non-originality of the species.

The Tablet of Carmel
Call out to Zion, O Carmel, and announce the joyful tidings: He that
was hidden from mortal eyes is come! His all-conquering sovereignty
is manifest; His all-encompassing splendor is revealed. Beware lest
thou hesitate or halt. Hasten forth and circumambulate the City of
God that hath descended from heaven…., the pure in heart, and the
company of the most exalted angels. Oh, how I long to announce
unto every spot on the surface of the earth, and to carry to each one of
its cities, the glad-tidings of this Revelation -- a Revelation to which
the heart of Sinai hath been attracted, and in whose name the
Burning Bush is calling: "Unto God, the Lord of Lords, belong the
kingdoms of earth and heaven." Verily this is the Day in which both
land and sea rejoice at this announcement, the Day for which have
been laid up those things which God, through a bounty beyond the
ken of mortal mind or heart, hath destined for revelation. Ere long
will God sail His Ark upon thee, and will manifest the people of
Bahá who have been mentioned in the Book of Names.
Sanctified be the Lord of all mankind, at the mention of Whose name
all the atoms of the earth have been made to vibrate, and the Tongue
of Grandeur hath been moved to disclose that which had been wrapt

Ere the expiration of a thousand years…
Whoso layeth claim to a Revelation direct from God, ere the expiration of a full thousand
years, such a man is assuredly a lying imposter. We pray God that He may graciously
assist him to retract and repudiate such claim. Should he repent, God will, no doubt,
forgive him. If, however, he persisteth in his error, God will, assuredly, send down one
who will deal mercilessly with him. Terrible, indeed, is God in punishing! Whosoever
interpreteth this verse otherwise than its obvious meaning is deprived of the Spirit of

I hope that each one of you will become just, and direct your thoughts towards
the unity of mankind; that you will never harm your neighbors nor speak ill of

interests of others than for your own. Thus will you become torches of Divine
