_________________________________ With Sincere Gratitude
St. Adalbert - St. Roch Parish offer our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ann Merlino for her generous gift which helped us upgrade and install the Audio & Video equipment in St. Roch Church and the Parish Hall. We also thank Ann and Tony Galano who donated an altar cloth to St. Roch Church in memory of their son Joseph Galano. 50/50: Congratulations to Rosa Papapietro on winning $450 in the June - July 50/50. If you would like to be a part of the August - September 50/50, please submit your $5 donation by September 27.
Second Collection: There will be a second collection next week on August 8 & 9 for Pastoral Solidarity for the Church in Africa. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
Baptisms
We will resume baptisms in July. One child/family per day. The church will be limited to 75 people total. Please call the rectory (718)442-4755 to schedule or reschedule your child’s baptism. Parents baptizing for the first time must take a class which is held on the first Monday of the month.
Confession Confessions are available in the rectory on weekdays by appointment only. Please call the rectory to make an appointment with either Fr. Roby or Fr. Diego.
Wedding To arrange a wedding at St. Adalbert/St. Roch Parish, consult with a priest at least six months prior to the pro-posed date and before social arrangements. Attendance at Pre-Cana and Natural Family Planning classes is re-quired.
Anointing of the Sick Communion to the Homebound
We apologize, but in order to prevent the spread of COVID 19 virus, we cannot visit the sick at this time. You may call the rectory or email us with the name of your loved one and we will add him/her to our pray-ers.
Food Pantry
Our food pantry is temporarily closed to prevent the spread of COVID 19. Our volun-teers are working hard to prepare our pantry. Our pantry shelves are low. We would appreci-ate any donation of non perishable food items. Donations may be brought to the St. Roch rec-tory on weekdays between 9am—3pm or left near the entrance of one of our churches. Please check expiration dates.
“If I try by myself to swim across the ocean of this world, the waves will certainly engulf me. In order to survive I must climb aboard a ship made
of wood; this wood is the Cross of Christ. Of course, even on board ship there will be danger-
ous tempests and perils from the sea of this world. But God will help me remain on board the
ship and arrive safely at the harbor of eternal life.” – St. Augustine
Christ never abandons us in our need; he only asks us to believe in him. In his words to Peter, tinged perhaps with disappointment, we catch a glimpse of his heart, longing so deeply for us to trust him without limits: “Why did you doubt?” And when he steps into the boat, the storm dies away and peace resumes. Christ wants to be our peace, our strength, and our solution to all of life’s troubles. St Peter learned this lesson well; in his first Letter he put it like this: “cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7). - Catholic Exchange 8/6/14
Lets Celebrate Safely:
- Please wear a mask at all times in church.
- Please adhere to our social distance seating.
(Leave the family seating for families.)
- Refrain from shaking hands at the Sign of
Peace and instead wave to one another.
- Once the church is 25% full our ushers will instruct you to go down to the parish hall where you may watch a live stream of the mass.
Religious Education Program: Registra-tion has begun for the 2020-2021 school year. Preparation to receive First Communion be-gins in First Grade. If you have a child be-ginning 1st grade in public school this Sep-tember, please call the rectory on Monday. Limited space in grades 3-6.
