Thank you to those who have generously responded to the Annual Diocesan Appeal. St Mary’s is 48% toward their parish goal of $27,149.00 and St. Boniface is at 48.5% of their goal of $11,457.00. For those who have not returned their pledge envelope we are asking that you do so in the next couple of weeks. What we do not collect will be taken out of the general accounts. Remember what we collect over our assessment comes back to our parishes.

Share your warmth! United Methodist Church, St Boniface of Farmington, and Embury Church of Donnellson are having a coat, hat, mittens, boots and snow-pants drive for children in their communities. Help the kids share the warmth! Donate new or slightly used items of all sizes. They will pick the items up or you can deliver them to 501 S Front Street, Farmington (Tammy Boyer residence), John’s Food Center or Embury Church. Monetary donations are welcome. Questions contact Tammy at 319-878-4287.

Please help to prepare for our Christmas Mass celebration by signing up for Mass ministries. For your convenience we have three ways you may choose from, call the office, sign up through our website at www.westpointstmary.org and click on stewardship button, or use the form published in the newsletter. Please sign up so we do not have to spend several hours calling for help.

Ft. Madison Food Pantry will be collecting cake mixes, brown-ie mixes and frosting to include in Christmas Baskets for needy families. These items can be brought to the Food Pantry on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 9:00 am and noon or 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Items are needed by December 7th. Immaculate Conception Friday, December 8th is a holy day of obligation.

Make your plans now to attend Mass: St Boniface, Thursday, December 7th at 7:00PM

St. Mary’s, Friday, December 8th at 5:30PM.

The Flower Cottage is once again offering churches discounts on their Poinsettias for the Christmas services. If you would like to purchase a poinsettia for your loved ones to be delivered to our church for Christmas please contact The Flower Cottage at 372-3675 and they will be more than happy to help you. Please give them the parish name along with the name of the person you wish to honor. If purchasing a poinsettia elsewhere you may drop it off at the parish office. As we prepare for Christmas by decorating our homes for the coming of the infant Jesus, why not volunteer to do the same for our church. We are asking for volunteers to help on Monday, December 18th to move decorations from storage to the church. Some of the boxes are heavy so it would be nice to have some men volunteer. On Tuesday, December 19th we will need help putting the decorations out. Please help us prepare the church for the birth of our Lord, the infant child Jesus. During the Christmas Holidays the parish bulletin is due to the publisher early so please make sure you have anything you would like included in the bulletin to the office by noon on the following deadlines. December 17th bulletin by Friday, December 8th. December 24th bulletin by Thursday, December 14th. December 31st by Wednesday December 20th. Thank you for your cooperation. The 6th grade class was involved with helping make 16 pies for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner held in Ft. Madison. The students of Mrs. Peitz's class donated money to cover the cost of ingredients and made a list of types of pies to make. Pictured is Fr. Bruce teaching us how to make a lattice on top of an apple pie. The kids did a great job making pies for a much needed cause in our community. This 6th grade class loves to help out with projects that make a difference in their world.

On Sunday evening we gathered as a faith community to create Advent Wreaths for our families. Everyone was able to design a personal wreath they will use during the upcoming Advent season. It was awesome to see whole families work together, and sometimes argue because that is what brothers do, to decorate their wreaths. Thanks to Mike Linnenbrink for planning and hosting this event. Also thanks to Mary Kay Lampe and Maureen Kieler for their help during the evening. At the end of the session, Fr. Hoffman blessed the wreaths. Each family was given a take home packet of prayers and activities to do as a family during Advent. If you would like an advent packet for your home, please call Mike at 316-2115.
