Mis hermanos y hermanas en Cristo, Espero que todos esten bien y en paz. Ha sido una Cuaresma como ninguna otra, ¡que esta semana sea aún más santa que todas las anteriores! ¡Gracias por permanecer fieles, por sus oraciones, en medio de todo, el mundo y yo las necesitamos ahora! Gracias por sus sacrifi-cios para que otros puedan vivir, por lavar más, por mantener la distancia y disciplinar nuestro impulso de comprar más de lo necesario, todo esto ayuda a otros, y gracias por su generosid-ad, los actos simples de amabilidad le dan a los demás y a mí, una razón para tener esperanza. No es posible que nos juntemos, pero en nuestros hogares y nuestras calles aún podemos levantar nuestras palmas u otras plantas para gritar “Hosanna al Hijo de David; bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor ". Cristo se vació y tomó la forma de un esclavo; al aceptar amablemente la pérdida de tantas cosas que disfrutamos e incluso nuestros rituales favoritos de la Semana Santa, Cristo nos hace parte de su sacrificio perfecto, salvandonos a nosotros y a su mundo. ¡Entonces, manténganse fieles! Hagan el bien cuando puedan, para que Nuestro Señor sea glorificado. Gracias a todos por ayudarnos a rezar esta semana. ¡Estoy agradecido con todos ustedes! No importa lo que pase esta semana, recuerden: “El Señor DIOS es mi ayuda, por lo tanto no estoy en desgracia; He puesto mi cara como pedernal, sabiendo que no me avergon-zarán. A Message from our Pastor My Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope y’all stay well and at peace. It’s been a Lent like no other- may this week be even holier than those that have gone before! Thank you for staying faithful- for your prayers, amid everything- the world and I need them now! Thank you for your sacrifices so that others might live- washing more, social distancing, disciplining our urge to stock up - all these help others. and thank you for your generosity- simple acts of kindness give others- and me!- a reason to hope. We may not gather together but in our homes and our streets we can s ll li up our palms or other greenery to cry “Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is the he who comes in the name of the Lord.” Christ emp ed Himself and took the form of a slave; by accep ng kindly the loss of so many things we enjoy and even our favorite Holy Week rituals, Christ makes us part of His perfect sacrifice, saving us and His world. So, stay faithful! Do the good when you can, that Our Lord be glorified. Thank you, every-one helping us to pray this week- I’m grateful to all of y’all! No ma er what happens this week, remember “The Lord GOD is my help, therefore I am not disgraced; I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame.” Thank y’all for all you’ve done to help me get through this Lent. Here in Texas, as elsewhere, the current health emergency has induced fear and anxiety in many hearts and minds. At the same time, it has brought unity to us as a people who seek the good for others. Our faith has to be lived with reason, prudence and good judgment. I have consulted with Bishop George Sheltz and the Presbyteral Council and have decided to make the following modifications to my March 13, 2020 message. These modifica-tions are to be followed until further notice. MASS:
•The public celebration of all weekday and Sunday Masses will be suspended in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston effect tive Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Churches are to remain open for individual and private prayer observing their normal hours, as discerned by the Pastors.
•Parishes, to the extent they are able, are to inform parishioners of the opportunity to view Masses either through network television or other live stream options over the internet.
