Emily Mashifane was rushed to the hospital on Thursday 1 October when she was suffering of labour pain. She shouted for help so many times but what she heard was a big laughter coming from the hospital's reception," said Emily’s mother, Mantwa Mashifane (53). She told the Dispatch that her daughter sounded very worried on the phone and she advised her to send one of the patients to go and call the nurses. "A kind patient went to tell the nurses about my daughter's condition but they refused to help and turned the kind woman back to the labour ward saying Emily is stubborn," she said. Re- alizing that the nurses do not come, Emily was urged to go to the reception looking for help. She was struggling to walk at the time but instead of taking the matter seriously, the nurses told her to crawl back to the labour ward. "My daughter was told by the nurses that she is not special and could not receive any special treatment at the hos- pital. I wonder how the nurses can say such words while on the other hand watching someone groaning in pains," she added. Emily’s mother said she called her daugh- ter back where she re- sponded that the nurses still refuse to help her deliver the baby. "Around 2:30 am, Emily phoned and tells me that she deliv- ered the baby on her own. What made me angry was that the baby was delivered on the floor. I then ad- vised her to cover the baby with a blanket," she said. She added that she immediately rushed to the local clinic hoping to find a number to the hospital and enquire about the whole situation but unfortunately she did not find the St Rita’s Hospital contact numbers. "One of my children managed to find the hos- pital's numbers on Google where we immedi- ately phoned the hospital telling them that Emily has given birth on the floor. They did not take it seriously until we threatened to take the matter further and that's when they went to the labour ward to take care of her, 30 minutes after my daughter had given birth. One moment I thought that I will lose both Emily and my grandchild," she said. She told the Dispatch that since the incident happened, her daughter's health is deteriorat- ing and she consults private doctors frequently. She said the baby was also not in a good condition and had to be checked by the doctors too. "Emily is not in good health and needs serious medical attention in a hospital. But now she is afraid to go for check-ups at the same hospital where she was ill-treated by the nurses. I take her to private doctors but they are quite expensive," she said. Emily told the Dispatch that the nurses wrote on her file that the baby was delivered at 03:00 which is not the time when the baby was actu- ally delivered. She said the problem with the nurses started when one of the Staff members told her that she was not in labour pains. "I insisted and that's when they started telling me that I am stubborn and think I am too special," she said. "I thought something bad was going to happen as the umbilical cord was still attached between me and the baby for the whole thirty minutes and only cut off when the nurses arrive," added Emily. "My baby was coughing for more than five days and I suspect he caught cold in the proc- ess when I deliver him on the floor," she said. Emily said she reported the matter to the Opera- tional Manager Sister Segobela in the morning and the nurses were immediately called in a meeting. "The nurses did not even bother to apologize about what happened, what I heard was just a clicking of tongues coming out of their mouths. I am too disappointed with the treatment I received in that hospital. I am not in good health at all as I am in pains and trauma- tized by that situation. I am thinking of suing the Health Department as soon as I get better," she said. The Limpopo Department of Health Spokesperson Macks Lesufi told the Dispatch that they were not aware of the allegation. "We will investigate the matter and will come with solutions soon after we finalize our inves- tigation," he said. Emily Mashifane was urged to deliver her baby on the floor when the nurses at St Rita's Hospital in Glen Cowie refused to help her.

It has been years since the Marble Hall Cham-ber of Commerce has been fighting for betterservices for the people of Ephraim MogaleLocal Municipality. The Chamber of Commerceengaged with the municipality for a very longtime trying to address the concerns of thecommunity with no success due to the negli-gence of the government.According to the Chairman of the Marble HallChamber of Commerce Mr Paissopoulos, it isno secret that the Marble Hall Chamber ofCommerce has been locked in negotiationsover the years on matters pertaining to theconcern of both the local and rural communi-ties."As usual, the Ephraim Mogale Local Munici-pality has done everything in their power toavoid taking responsibility for their completeincompetence on a range of issues affecting usall. " said Paissopoulos. He said things have worsened in the municipal-ity ranging from corruption, nepotism and poorservice delivery to the communities."We are urging the local and rural communitiesto make their voices heard at the upcomingelections in 2016 to get rid of the rot. The longerthese people stay in power, the worse thingsget,” concluded the Marble Hall SakekamerChairman Mr Paissopoulos.

A Tafelkop resident, Jeffrey Walker claims thepolice stole from him when searching his houseon Thursday 8 October. Walker said theMotetema Police went to his house after theyreceived a tip-off from the community that he ismanufacturing nyaope at his house. JeffreyWalker has recently started the Karate AgainstNyaope Campaign that takes place at schoolsin Tafelkop Village. According to him, jealouspeople supplied false evidence to the policethat led to his house being searched. During thesearch some of his stuff ended up missing. Hesaid the police did not even have a searchwarrant when they broke his door and startedsearching his house."I received a call from my neighbour around8:40 informing me that the police budged intomy house. I immediately phoned my neigh-bour's son requesting him to hand any policeofficer his cell phone so that I can tell them thatI am on the way. They refused and then I asked

Malicious damage to property case opened against Motetema Policehim to take the registration plates of the vehi-cles they were using," said Walker. He added that his neighbours managed toidentify one of the police officers whom heknows and he immediately gave him a call andhe was told that the police have returned to thestation."The police know very well that I am againstnyaope. I even introduced the Karate AgainstNyaope Campaign to the Station Commanderwhere some of the police who searched myhouse were present. I am surprised that thepolice raided my house suspecting me of own-ing a laboratory that is manufacturing nyaope,"he said.He said on arrival at his house the door wasbroken, his clothes and food were scattered onthe floor."The whole house was a mess, my computerwas also dismantled and I later realized that myhard drive is missing. I was threatened by

community members before, I can deal with idlethreats but I cannot accept what the police didto me," he said angrily.Walker added that he ask himself that if it is astandard procedure that the police must dam-age the suspect's properties during the raids orit is the abuse of power because they knowexactly that he cannot avenge."Since that day my attitude towards the policehas changed and the anger I have in me isjustified. There is a need for our police officersto serve the people rather than to harm innocentcommunity members," he said.Walker said he went to the Motetema PoliceStation to open a case of malicious damage toproperty. He said he was told not to touchanything in the house and wait for the CRC tocome and take pictures and fingerprints butthey failed to arrive until today."My million dollar question is, is it constitu-tional to be harassed by the police because

someone gave them wrong information? Do thepolice have the right to act as they wish whileon duty? If it is the law that gives them the rightto treat people like animals, then we don't havea law. I understand they followed the informa-tion when coming to my house but they didn'thave to break and destroy my stuff," concludedJeffrey Walker.Motetema SAPS Spokesperson ConstableThelma Makofane confirmed that a case ofmalicious damage to property was opened attheir station. She said the case has been handedover to the Independent Police InvestigativeDirectorate (IPID) for investigations.

The Ndlovu Miracle Theatre in Elandsdoorn, Dennilton, was painted red when the BolsheviksParty of South Africa launched its branch on Saturday 10 October. The party was formed byconcerned residents of Moutse in 2013 and it will be taking part in the coming Local GovernmentElections next year. The Elandsdoorn executive members were elected during the launch. "Thisis once again a evident proof of how the support base for the Bolsheviks Party of South Africais growing exponentially," said Howard Mokwena, the party secretary. He said the party leadersare happy to see residents come in numbers to support the organization. "It is without anyreasonable doubt that the people who will be voting next year were hungry for the new role playerin the political arena. The party that promised a better life for all has failed to implement their promisewhich is why we formed this political party to raise the voice of the community members who arestruggling in different parts of the country, “added Mokwena. He said people's benefits that weresupposed to go hand in hand with the democracy were never reached as corruption, and otherunlawful activities seemed to be the order of the day where government officials don’t serve theinterest of the people anymore. "The ideas and methodology of the ruling party has not onlybecome out-dated, but it now reflects the party's failure to address the people's issues and comewith solutions that will benefit the community at large," he said. He added that the organizationis happy about the community's response as the turn-out during the launch was positive. "Weare glad that community members came in numbers to support. This proves that the people haverealized that the Bolsheviks Party of South Africa is indeed an organization that can provide thebest and most suitable solutions to our current dilemmas that we are facing," said Mokwena.Mokwena concluded: "The ANC has lacked capacity to deliver services to the people for 21 years. This proves that it is time for change as the ruling party has shown that they lack capability, understanding, skills and knowledge to serve the community with proper needs."

Recently, positions were advertised by Ephraim Mogale Local Munici-pality where a number of people applied to get employment. Apparently, the municipality advertised a Youth Officer post. It was stated clearlythat candidates should have matric and also be computer literate. Nowoppositions in Sekhukhune claim the position was created for the rulingparty's PR Councillor, Eliah Maisela Monyamane who already startedwith his duties on 1 October this year. The opposition claims thatMonyamane doesn't have matric or any computer certificate as it wasstated when the post was advertised.Matsobane Mokonyane, an Mpumalanga Party Councillor and a ChiefWhip of the opposition in Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality saidMonyamane created the post for himself during the Youth Summit heldin the municipality recently. He said Monyamane's appointment isagainst the Structural Act as he was still a full time councillor whenapplying for the post."A lot is yet to come here as there is a list consisting of ANC YouthLeague members who are waiting to be appointed as general workers. This is aimed to strengthen support for the ruling party in the comingLocal Government Elections," he said.Mokonyane added the Mayor Cllr Yvonne Mmakola, the MunicipalManager Monica Mathebela and Eliah Monyamane must be heldaccountable for nepotism. He said Monyamane got the position as histerm as a councillor is ending next year. He added that Monyamane isafraid that he will be urged to leave the council if the ruling party get fewervotes in next year's elections as a result of a tough competition from theopposition organizations around Ephraim Mogale."We demand that Monyamane must produce his matric results as it wasstated in the advertisement. He must also be evaluated to determine ifhe deserve to be in the position," he said. According to the DeputySecretary of PAC in Sekhukhune July Mamogobo, the post was createdfor Monyamane from the on-set. He said it was already known thatMonyamane will be appointed in the position just before the interviewswere conducted. "He is a part of the Mayoral Committee and thisauthorizes him to form a part of the interview panel. He is actually anemployee in the municipality and we do not have a clue why he appliedfor the position in the first place," he said.

Mayoral Committee member creates aYouth Officer post for himself

Mamogobo said interviews were held onWednesday 16 September and a number ofqualified applicants formed part but they werenot considered. He said it was clear that nepotism was prevail-ing as Monyamane was considered amongsthighly qualified candidates in the position."This makes our suspicions clear that the po-sition was created for the councillor as he wasgiven an appointment letter on Friday, twodays after the interviews. One can ask whatabout all these hundreds of unemployed quali-fied young people who are denied chances. This is not fair and must be stopped," he said.Mamogobo said Monyamane proved beyondany reasonable doubt that he doesn't careabout the interests of the people who voted forhim to represent them in the council. He said tohis organization (PAC) this is not a closedmatter and they are ready to take the issueforward. "We are now seeking legal opinions tofight this matter. We will do anything to servethe interest of the public and stop any form ofcorruption in the Sekhukhune District," heconcluded. The Ephraim Mogale Communications Man-ager Jan Phasha said a proper procedure wasfollowed when Monyamane was appointed inthe position. "The appointment of EliahMonyamane was made by the interview paneland was absolutely not politically motivated. His appointment has nothing to do with hisprevious position as a councillor in the munici-pality," he said. Phasha added that Monyamanewas evaluated and it was discovered that hemet all the requirements which made him the

candidate suitable for the position."The issue of appointing people in the municipality is held by theadministration department led by the municipal manager. It has nothingto do with political organizations within the municipality," he concluded.

Eliah Monyamane is accused by opposition in EphraimMogale Local Municipality for creating a Youth Officer postfor himself during a Youth Summit held recently.

As the country is currently experiencing a high unemployment rate, many people are desperateto get jobs and this leads them to do anything so that they can be employed. Some have lostthousands of rands trying to bribe to known and unknown people who promised them jobsopportunities in big companies. Now criminals seize this as an opportunity to make quick bucks by claiming that they are fromrecruitment departments in various private sector companies, promising job placement tounsuspecting desperate community members. They start by demanding a certain amount ofmoney from unsuspecting community members before they can place them in the companies.Recently people from Tafelkop and Motetema became victims of this scam where an unknownman came and promised unemployed residents jobs in exchange for money. People were told topay the amount of R1 500-00 in order to be employed at Blue Ridge Platinum Mine situated atMaleoskop near Groblersdal."I heard around the village about the gentleman who claimed to be from Blue Ridge Mine that herecruits unemployed people to get jobs. I searched for his numbers and called him and he agreedthat he is working for Blue Ridge and would like us to meet. I became suspicious when he tell meto bring along my CV accompanied by the amount of R1 500-00 in the private place at GroblersdalTown. I called our meeting off when I hear that I have to pay such a lot of money before I can beemployed, knowing that this could be a scam," said a Tafelkop community member who wish tostay anonymous. He said the man promised to take the CV and the money so that he could be onthe employment register the following day. He said a number of community members in Tafelkophave already paid the amount to the man since early September this year. "These people are afraidto come forward with information as they fear to be victimized by people involved in the scam,"he said. He added the victims fear to come forward claiming that their life will be in danger if theycan do so. "We always complain about corruption and nepotism whereas on the other sidecommunity members prefer to buy jobs where they ended up getting robbed off their money. Ithink we must all believe in free and fair recruitment companies before we lose thousands of moneyto these criminals. Blue Ridge has to make sure that their recruitment system is not corrupted asit will lead to a serious crisis under its name," he said.Blue Ridge Mine was not available to comment at time of going to print.
