WHO WE ARE
Sifasafi: Is a volunteer platform where we build a bridge for students to
reach towards desired career opportunities.
PROBLEM
Youth unemployment in
Kenya is a ticking time
bomb waiting to explode.
Today, unemployment in
Kenya stands at 40%,
and 70% of those
unemployed are
between the ages of 15
and 35.

Stats: World Bank Journal,2015
“ “"Many nonprofits, libraries, and schools don't have
the time, money, or funding to use technology in all the
ways they would like. Technical volunteers can fill the
gap by tackling the projects that in-house staff cannot
handle, and that do not require paid consultants." Tech
soup.

LET’S REVIEW SOME OF OUR PILOTS
BIKE SHARING
Bike share system is a
revenue model we tested to
sustain our sifasafi cleanup
volunteer activity, as a way to
recruit volunteers, we did a
crowd fund bought 3 bikes for
hire to students in the
university, which was being
run by sifasafi volunteers, We
did a pilot study and came up
with a model that will
introduce bike share system
owned by the university. .
SIFASAFI CLEAN UP
Sifasafi organised 5 cleanups
and developed reports, we
realized that students who came
wanted to be given a certificate
to show that they participated,
and there was low attendance of
volunteers, we thought how can
we create value for our
volunteers and that’s how
sifasafi.com came in handy.
We also mapped Nairobi river in
partnership with CEAC
(Chiromo environmental
association club) using #Nailitter
an online campaign to stop
littering in urban areas.
UNHABITAT
Our pilot project for bike share
system in the university, is
adopted by the university and
has support from UNHABITAT.
