NAFS LAWWAAMAH This NAFS’ appearance is usually after a person has done a wrong for

which strong sense in our ‘conscience’ direct the ‘BLAME’ upon himself.

With ‘BLAME’ will come ‘SHAME’ – an important FITwRAH in us.

Although many of us are firstly exposed to a social norm of conforming

to values and laws in which ‘blame’ is used to educate us towards what

is accepted or unaccepted, ‘blame’ usually is an after effect – not a

preventive motivation. Thus they are repercussions in forms of

punishment as deterrence – to educate others who are not the ones

blamed. Yet there are people using a twisted argument of “so long as

you are not caught then you are still okay (i.e. not wrong)!”. All Rights Reserved © Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2016))

NAFS LAWWAAMAH The better motivation is “SHAME”. This is possible because mankind has

the innate sense of shame and remorse which serves to make him a

moral being. Fearing ‘shame’ are better morally than only to fear ‘blame’.

Yet, people nowadays may seek ‘new age’ techniques or brainwashing

(programming) to deflect or even remove the positive ‘ shame and

remorse’ in a person which should motivate ‘repentance and reparation’

but instead the person may use it to be in ‘denial’ of shame and blame.

And through constant bombardment in social programs of

‘desensitization’ or ‘ emotional therapy’ it is possible generally for the

unwary soul (NAFS) to still be corrupted or misguided. All Rights Reserved © Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2016))

NAFS LAWWAAMAH Although this Nafs-al-Lawwaamah develops the person’s ability to be

critical of wrongdoing and immorality, he/she may try to use this to

instead misdirect focus and to judge others but not upon itself;

blaming others but not himself/herself.

A persons’ ignorance of the SHARI’AH may cause him/her to

misinterpret the ‘Halal-wa-Haram’ rulings of the DEEN, especially for

those learning Islam merely by themselves without the guidance of

true teacher of Islam. Such deviant interpretations, if not corrected

and curtailed, may lead people astray from being humane to
