It’s been a busy few months for the Yamba team, with the second wide-hull Naiad 10m launched and delivered to Marine Rescue Narooma, and the new design Naiad 6.8m for Nambucca Heads also completed. The Narooma boat reinforces the benefits of the wider hull for carrying the gear expected of modern rescue vessels.

The 6.8m packs a lot of boat into its small overall length. The lockup cabin has two Reelax seats, standing position for another two crew inside, good storage ahead of the cabin, and a surprisingly large working cockpit. The Yamba test crew really enjoyed the trials including bar work, noting the boat’s confident feel in the water and it’s safe, predicable handling. A nifty extra on this boat is the bow ladder to make beach access much easier.

As with all recent Naiads for Marine Rescue NSW, both recent boats have foam inside the pontoons, for literally “bullet-proof” reliability.
