32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time: November 11 That when we give our financial support to our parish, we give from our “first fruits” and not what from what is “left over”. “I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living.” (Mark 12:43-44) Jesus gets right to the point – we are all called to give money to support the mission of the Church, regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too small or insignificant! Giving money to support the mission of our local parish is a matter of our faith, just like praying and participating in parish ministries. When you make a financial offering, is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left over”?

The Giving Tree Helping Those in Need

The Altar Rosary is sponsoring the Giving Tree again this year.

A Christmas tree will be placed in front of the Adoration Room on November 21st, with “Angels” containing names of residents at nursing homes and for the Carmelite Sisters. The Angels will also contain a suggestion for a gift that you might purchase. Bring the Angel and the WRAPPED GIFT to the Parish Office the week of December 10th through 14th so we have enough time to distribute the gifts to the various places. We hope our whole parish will participate to make this a Blessed Holiday Season for the aged, the infirm, and for our faithful nuns.

If you have any questions, please call Dorothy Teale at 281-547-8790 or Betty Palmer at 281-255-6759.

Thank you for your support and have a wonderful Christmas Season!

ADORATION AWARENESS

“Come to me, all you who labor and are bur-

dened, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28

The month of November is dedicated to the Holy

Souls in Purgatory. We can help the poor Souls in

Purgatory by spending time with Jesus in adoration

and gaining an indulgence for them.

The Handbook of Indulgences states:

“A partial indulgence is granted the Christian

faithful when they visit the Blessed Sacrament for the

purpose of adoration. When this is done for at least

half an hour, the indulgence is a plenary one.”

“Beside the exclusion of all attachment to sin, even

venial sin, the requirements for gaining a  plenary

indulgence are the performance of the indulgenced

work and fulfillment of three conditions: sacramental

confession, eucharistic communion, and prayer for

the pope’s intentions."

- Handbook of Indulgences – Third Edition.

Spend time with Jesus in adoration and this month offer your time with Him for the Holy Souls in Purgatory who Jesus loves very much. More adorers are needed and are always welcome. Adoration is available for all at the scheduled times. If you would like to sign up for a weekly hour of adoration, please contact: Kathryn Dawson (281-351-0571) or Marty Lang ([email protected] )

Saint Francis Xavier was born on April 7, 1506, in a castle near Sangeeta in Navarre (part of present-day Spain). With encouragement from his friend Ignatius of Loyola, Xavier devoted himself to religious service and became one of the founders of the Jesuit order. Much of his life was spent tending to missions in areas such as India and Japan. He was 46 when he died on China's Changchun Island on December 3, 1552.

BAZAAR ITEMS

This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all vet-erans in all wars. It is on the 11th day of the 11th month.

We celebrate and honor America's Veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
