Sunday: The Most Holy Trinity Monday: Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary; Ninth Week in Ordinary Time Tuesday: St. Justin Wednesday: Ss. Marcellinus and Peter Thursday: St. Charles Lwanga and Companions Friday: First Friday Saturday: St. Boniface; First Saturday Scripture Reflection Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Church sets aside this Sunday to focus our attention on the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, God who is one, but three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading from Deuteronomy emphasizes both God’s awesome greatness and amazing nearness. It might seem beyond belief, but the God of all creation speaks to us, protects us, and guides us. The second reading from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans describes how we are to relate to the three persons who are one God. We are led by the Spirit to meet God the Father as adopted children. Our adoption is such that we are even heirs with our brother, Christ, the second person of the Trinity, in whose sufferings we must also share. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus speaks with his authority as God and sends us to teach and baptize in the name of the Trinity. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. Archdiocesan Family Prayer Loving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. Amen. St. Catherine of Siena Parish Prayer God, Our Father, we thank you for our parish community of St. Catherine of Siena. Thank you for the many blessings that you have given us, but especially for calling us to serve as disciples of your son, Jesus Christ. As we gather today, we ask that you send your Holy Spirit to guide us in everything that we do. Transform our hearts and lead us closer to you. Help us always to seek to be a parish that is Centered on Christ and Ablaze with Love. We ask all of these things in the name of Jesus, and through the intercession of our Blessed Mother. St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us! St. Michael the Archangel Prayer St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Firm Foundations Ministry Are you building a new home or renovating an old one? Before you close those walls, how about giving your foundation some “scriptural strength?” Text Jennifer Collins at 610-2728 or call the parish office, 835-9343, and someone will come out to place “The Word” on your beams and boards. Does this ministry appeal to you? Contact Jennifer, or the church office, if you are interested!
Alpha 8 Registration is Open!!! We are very excited to announce that plans are underway for Alpha 8 to begin August 24! Registration is open, but spaces are filling fast. If you are interested, it would be wise to sign up soon. We are happy to say that we will once again be offering babysitting services during the Alpha sessions. Alpha is an opportunity to explore life
and the Catholic Christian faith in a friendly and informal environment. It provides the time and space to consider and discuss the “big questions” in life: What is the meaning of life? Why am I here? For those who are already practicing Catholics, Alpha offers an opportunity to consider what we believe, why we believe it, and what it has to do with how we live. We revisit our most basic Christian beliefs and renew our openness to the Holy Spirit to be active in our daily lives. Alpha is designed to meet everyone where they are and invite them to grow even closer to Jesus. Alpha takes place over 11 weekly sessions, beginning August 24, and a “weekend retreat” (Friday evening, October 8, and Saturday, October 9). Each session runs from 6:30-8:30 pm and includes sharing a meal, watching a video, and discussing the video in a small group. We believe that you will find the videos to be engaging and the format to be fun and interesting. Alpha is a great way to make new friends and forge relationships. If you are interested in joining us for Alpha 8, please go to the website scschurch.com/alpha/signup, or call Pam Truxillo, 281-755-6667, for more information.

Please help us be good neighbors to those around SCS. Thank you for your cooperation.

It was awesome to have our first school play in well over a year. Even though only parents could attend, it was great to see our first grade students on stage for our Disney Revue. Thank you to Keri Robin Murphy and the first grade teachers who made this possible! Phenomenal job, first graders!
Our second grade students attended a retreat the day before their First Holy Communion. At the end of the retreat, the entire school surrounded them and prayed for them as they prepared to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.

Parish Snapshots
St. Catherine's had their first ever golf match in the 95-year history of the school, teeing it up against Stuart Hall at Lakewood Golf Course. The sun was bright, the wind was howling, and Coach was a little nervous. Although SCS did not come home with the victory, the team did great! Stuart Hall brought a hand full of 7th graders, which gave them the advantage off of the tee. The younger Gators showed more promise around the greens, which kept St. Catherine in the match. Our team was highlighted by the first two groups that teed off. Augustin and Colin shot a nice round of even par. Francie and Roman shot a nice round of three over par. The shot of the day came from Roman, who chipped one in for birdie on the 4th hole. We are very excited about this addition to our athletic program!
