PASTOR’S CORNER
The Reign of Christ As we close our liturgical year with the celebration of Christ the
King, we do so looking at the shining example of our patroness, St. Cecilia,
who truly put Christ as the center and king of her life to the point of
offering and shedding her blood for his Kingdom.
The gospel for this weekend shows a very radical and different picture of kingship.
Oftentimes, kingship is associated with pomp, pageantry, and being served. But the kingship of
Christ is the total opposite of the world’s understanding of it. At the heart of the kingship of
Christ is the greatest poverty of all, yet the richest, in the ways of God’s kingdom: self-
donation, the giving of his very life so that we might all prosper and that our joy may be
complete.
The kingship of Christ, then, is best seen on the cross. This is why the gospel for this
weekend is the story of the crucifixion. The seat of power of our greatest and unparalleled
King is on the cross. The cross is his throne. It isn’t a sign of defeat, but of victory. It is on the
cross that the greatest battle was waged by the King to protect the life of his people! As
St. Paul proclaims in the second reading today: God delivered us from the power of darkness
and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the
forgiveness of sins. And, that victory is not just celebrated, but continues to take place at every
Eucharistic celebration. What a gift for us, his people!
To celebrate the Kingship of Christ is to remind us that we are truly part of his reign. We
are part of his reign whenever we uphold and live out the values of his Kingdom. Are we truly
part of his Kingdom because our very lives, using the words of the collect, “render your
majesty service and ceaselessly proclaim your praise”? –Fr. Cary

St. Vincent de Paul is providing 200 families with Christmas dinner as well as gifts for the entire
family. If you could pick up an extra turkey on sale, it would be much appreciated. The ideal

ESCÁNDALO DE UN REY HUMILLADO, CRUCIFICADO Uno de los grandes desafíos de los apóstoles y otros discípulos era proclamar como REY DEL UNIVERSO a Jesucristo, alguien que había sido condenado a muerte por el imperio romano y por las autoridades máximas del judaísmo: alguien que había muerto en UNA CRUZ. Eso resalta en la lectura del evangelio de hoy, cuando Jesús, agonizando en la cruz, está escuchando las burlas de las autoridades y los soldados, y toma la oportunidad para ofrecerle perdón divino al hombre arrepentido a su lado que se lo pide con fe, y le toca sufrir la misma pena de muerte. Es San Pablo quien expresa magnífica y elocuentemente (en la segunda lectura) el misterio de la GRAN VICTORIA de Cristo DESDE LA CRUZ. Las frases que usa San Pablo son inolvidables: “recibimos…perdón de los pecados… imagen de Dios invisible… primogénito de toda la creación… fundamento… cabeza del cuerpo que es la Iglesia… primogénito de entre los muertos…”
EL PRÓXIMO DOMINGO ENTRAREMOS EN ADVIENTO Todo cambia con la celebración del primer domingo de Adviento. Entramos en un nuevo año litúrgico, dejamos atrás por varias semanas el color verde de tiempo ordinario, comenzamos a leer del evangelio de San Mateo (ciclo A), y no preparamos para encontrarnos con el Señor que viene. ¡Preparemos nuestros corazones para recibirlo con gozo y esperanza!
JESÚS: JUDÍO DE LA TRIBU Y SANGRE DEL REY DAVID La primera lectura de hoy recalca los preparativos para ungir a David como el rey de Israel mil años
(10 siglos) antes del nacimiento de su descendiente, Jesús.
NOVENARIO DE LA VIRGEN DE GUADALUPE Cada mes de diciembre, tomamos 9 días para prepararnos para 2 de las grandes celebraciones del año. El NOVENARIO DE LA VIRGEN comenzará este año el miércoles, 4 de diciembre a las 630 PM. Tendremos un tiempo para los adultos de la comunidad en la iglesia misma, y para niños y jóvenes en el Centro Parroquial. Todo culmina con la VIGILIA del 11 de diciembre concluyendo con la Santa Misa, la Mañanitas, y un convivio en la madrugada del 12. Los esperamos a todos. LAS POSADAS, comenzando el marte 17, nos encaminan hacia la gran celebración de NAVIDAD.
Todos los eventos que relatan los evangelios de los días antes del nacimiento de Nuestro Señor (e
inmediatamente después) se destacan de una manera muy hermosa orientada hacia los niños pequeños
de nuestras familias. El grupo del Camino Neocatecumenal que normalmente encabeza este evento los
invita todos a participar. Será de mucho provecho para sus niños, y gozarán de la experiencia.

DEL CATECISMO DE LA IGLESIA (continuado) ¿Puede un católico aceptar la teoría de la “EVOLUCIÓN” y a la misma vez creer en un Creador? Sí, aunque son diferentes tipos de conocimiento. La fe está siempre abierta a las verdades y las hipótesis de las ciencias. Podemos aceptar una teoría de evolución como un modelo para ayudarnos a entender cómo ha habido desarrollo en la naturaleza, con tal de no caer en la herejía de “evolucionismo”. Esta herejía se imagina que el ser humano es simplemente producto natural de procesos biológicos. (282-289). ¿Puede Dios hacer cualquier cosa? ¿Es todopoderoso? “Para Dios no hay nada imposible” (ver. Lc.1,37) Dios creó el mundo entero de la nada. Es el Señor de la historia. El dirige todo y puede hacer cualquier cosa. La manera en que usa su omnipotencia es, claramente, un misterio. “Mis pensamientos no son los de ustedes, ni sus caminos como los míos” (Is.55,8). (268-278) ENTRENAMIENTO REQUERIDO PARA SERVIDORES Los servidores en diversos ministerios que no pudieron asistir al taller de “Llamados a Proteger” que tuvimos en el mes de octubre, deberán hacer planes para participar en el que se ofrecerá EL SÁBADO, 30 DE NOVIEMBRE. Se llevará a cabo en el Centro Parroquial (salón C) de 10:30 a 12:30 ese día. Habrá una última oportunidad en enero para los que no puedan asistir.

SEGUNDA LECTURA ~ COLOSENSES 1, 12-20 Hermanos: Demos gracias a Dios Padre, el cual nos ha hecho capaces de participar en la herencia de su pueblo santo, en el reino de la luz. El nos ha liberado del poder de las tinieblas y nos ha trasladado al Reino de su Hijo amado, por cuya sangre recibimos la redención, esto es, el perdón de los pecados. Cristo es la imagen de Dios invisible, el primogénito de toda la creación, porque en él tienen su fundamento todas las cosas creadas, del cielo y de la tierra, las visibles y las invisibles, sin excluir a los tronos y dominaciones, a los principados y potestades. Todo fue creado por medio de él y para él. El existe antes que todas las cosas, y todas tienen su consistencia en él. El es también la cabeza del cuerpo, que es la Iglesia. El es el principio, el primogénito de entre los muertos, para que sea el primero en todo. Porque Dios quiso que en Cristo habitara toda plenitude y por él quiso reconciliar consigo todas las cosas, del cielo y de la tierra, y darles la paz por medio de su sangre, derramada en la cruz.
EVANGELIO ~ LUKE 23, 35-43 Cuando Jesús estaba ya crucificado, las autoridades le hacían muecas, diciendo: "A otros ha salvado; que se salve a sí mismo, si él es el Mesías de Dios, el elegido". También los soldados se burlaban de Jesús, y acercándose a él, le ofrecían vinagre y le decían: "Si tú eres el rey de los judíos, sálvate a ti mismo". Había, en efecto, sobre la cruz, un letrero en griego, latín y hebreo, que decía: "Éste es el rey de los judíos". Uno de los malhechores crucificados insultaba a Jesús, diciéndole: "Si tú eres el Mesías, sálvate a ti mismo y a nosotros". Pero el otro le reclamaba, indignado: "¿Ni siquiera temes tú a Dios, estando en el mismo suplicio? Nosotros justamente recibimos el pago de lo que hicimos. Pero éste ningún mal ha hecho". Y le decía a Jesús: "Señor, cuando llegues a tu Reino, acuérdate de mí". Jesús le respondió: "Yo te aseguro que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso".
ORACIÓN A SAN MIGUEL ARCÁNGEL
San Miguel Arcángel, defiéndenos en la batalla. Sé nuestro amparo contra las perversidades y asechanzas del demonio.
Reprímale Dios, pedimos suplicantes, y tú, príncipe de la milicia celestial, arroja al infierno con el divino poder a Satanás y a los otros espíritus malignos que andan dispersos por el mundo para la perdición de las almas. AMEN.
