St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School March Newsletter 2020 Dear Parent/Guardian: Last month was another exciting month at St. Elizabeth Seton School. Our school focused on the virtue of LOVE with various activities throughout the school. This month we celebrate Forgiveness. Each classroom also took time to celebrate Black Canadian Heritage Month. We are proud of the literature that was showcased in the hallways of our school. Unfortunately W5H, Basketball, Hockey and Chess have been put on hold. We will have our own chess tournament within the school. Students will be preparing for Easter and we celebrated Ash Wednesday with a beautiful para-liturgy by Deacon Eustace on February 26 th who was a former teacher here at St. Elizabeth Seton. Easter is a day of celebration because it represents the fulfillment of our faith as Christians. St. Paul wrote that: “Unless Christ rose from the dead, our faith is in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:17). Through his death, Christ saved mankind and He destroyed the hold that death has on all of us; but it is His Resurrection that gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next. The Church sets aside 40 days as a special time we call Lent. The word Lenten comes from the Anglo Saxon words lencten, meaning “Spring,” and lenctentid (Springtide) the word for “March,” the month in which the majority of Lent falls. Lent is a time of prayer, penance, sacrifice and good works in preparation for the celebration of Easter. Penance and the recalling of our baptism are of particular importance during this time. Moreover, an emphasis is placed on performing spiritual works, like attending the Stations of the Cross and Mass, taking the time for personal prayer and spiritual reading, going to confession, and offering gifts of time and love to others. Finally, March Break is also just around the corner. Please be reminded that the school will be closed from March 16th to March 20th. Let me take this opportunity to wish you and your family a relaxing and enjoyable March Break. School resumes on March 23rd. As always, if you have any comments, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Warm regards, Ms. A. Arpaia Principal. St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School March Newsletter 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Last month was another exciting month at St. Elizabeth Seton School. Our school focused

on the virtue of LOVE with various activities throughout the school. This month we

celebrate Forgiveness. Each classroom also took time to celebrate Black Canadian

Heritage Month. We are proud of the literature that was showcased in the hallways of

our school. Unfortunately W5H, Basketball, Hockey and Chess have been put on hold. We

will have our own chess tournament within the school.

Students will be preparing for Easter and we celebrated Ash Wednesday with a beautiful para-liturgy by Deacon Eustace on February 26th who was a former teacher here at St.

Please be reminded that the school

will be closed from March 16th to March 20th. Let me take this opportunity to wish you

and your family a relaxing and enjoyable March Break. School resumes on March 23rd. As

always, if you have any comments, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to

contact me.

Warm regards, Ms. A. Arpaia Principal.
