The St. Francis of Assisi Music Ministry

Do you have a love for music? Do you have a desire to take part in the liturgy in a unique way?

The St. Francis of Assisi Music Ministry is about to get started with another exciting year. All who are interested in participating and can commit to the rehearsals and weekly liturgy are welcome to join us. The adult choir rehearses on Tuesday evening,

beginning September 11th, at 7:30 in the church and sings at the 12:00 mass weekly, starting September 16th.

The children's choir rehearses every Sunday, starting on October 7th, and sings at the 10:15 mass every other week starting on October 14th. The choir is from grades 2 and up.

We are hoping to start a teen ensemble as well. The group would rehearse on Saturdays at 4:30 and then sing at the 5:30 mass. All teens who like to sing or have a reading proficiency on an instrument should contact the rectory and leave your information or to speak with the music director after any mass. Once we get a core number of people who are interested in this, we will get started.

If you have any questions regarding the various ensembles or time commitment involved, please speak with the music director after any of the masses.

*** ATTENTION *** Classes resume in September for children and teens who have not attended Religious Education classes and have to catch up on various grade levels. These classes include the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Please call the Religious Education Office at (845)638-4215 for more information and to register.

St Francis Bread

Our patron, St. Francis of Assisi, ministered to the poor and the deprived people of his time. In the “spirit” of St. Francis, we too have a great legacy of ministering to the poor of Rockland County. All parishioners are invited to donate one non-perishable food item which will go Catholic Community Services of Rockland. Please check the expiration date on the items being donated.

Donations will be accepted this weekend, Sept. 15-16.

Reflections of a Wife and Mother XIX My mom’s wonderful, spiritual reflections continue. She wrote all of these and sent them to us, her children, over a whole year. May they continue to inspire more and deeper prayer. Even if the evil one tries to ensnare me, I will not leave the Lord. Mary, My Blessed Mother, is my recourse - my help in difficult situations. "Hail Mary..."

Good advice from a wise man I knew: "Take a step back before you act." It's kind of like saying, "Think before you speak." Stepping back allows time to expose our pride and clears our vision.

"Things aren't going well, why would I praise God in the down times?" Perfect! Praise and Thank Him when you're in desolation. How blessed you are. He's teaching you to trust Him. "I don't feel like praising and thanking God." Good, be the fool, feel like a phony, God is working - in YOU. Patience!!!

Are you being God's fool today?

Recognize your great responsibility and sublime dignity and immerse yourself in God's mercy. Abandon your worldly and pagan mentality. "Put off your old nature which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful lusts." "Be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God" - be right, be holy, be happy.

Open yourself up to the floodgates of God's mercy. God's forgiveness is greater than our sins. Call upon Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through you to others.

Are we finally getting it? Yes, I'm getting to believe the most important gift of all - Jesus is in love with you and with me. He's patiently waiting for us to believe it.
