quand on dit : « Je connais tous mes dossiers ».

Today is Good Shepherd Sunday

Fr. Bernard J. Quinn’s death on April 7th, 1940 fell on Good Shepherd Sunday that year. It was fitting that he who was in the likeness of the Good Shepherd should have a blessed death on that Feast Day. Due to a limited number of prayer cards, if you are desirous of having one, please ask Fr. Paul. The April 7th

Memorial Mass could be seen at:

netny.tv/episodes/currents/saintly-mans-lasting/legacy

The miriacle that Fr. Theo Joseph received through the intercession of Fr. Quinn can also be seen:

netny.tv/episodes/currents/priest-says-cured-miracle.

You can pray for the intercession of Fr. Quinn for whatever miracle you need from the Lord.

A. We thank all who have participated with a gift to the 2017 Appeal and ask that

everyone prayerfully consider making a gift to the 2018

Appeal.

B. Each year, St. Francis of Assisi– St. Blaise R.C. Church and the Diocese of Brooklyn

engage in the Annual Catholic Appeal which supports Catholic programs throughout Brooklyn and Queens that effect in a

constructive manner the lives of countless individuals and families living in our neighborhoods.

C. The goal for our Parish is $67,276.00. We only reached half our goal last year because many of our parishioners failed to fulfill their pledges to the Appeal. The parish

will have to make up our incomplete goal by sending the monetary difference to the diocese.

D. We count upon your support for the 2018 Catholic Appeal.

E. In the coming weeks, every family will be invited to participate in this appeal and prayerfully consider a pledge. Please join with us to respond to those in Brooklyn and Queens who are in need.

Support the important work of our Diocese through a pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal today.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

4th Sunday of Easter

It was during the fourth century in Jerusalem that Christians first

starting using palm branches in

commemoration of Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem. Today,

we continue to use palms in most churches on this Sunday, Catholic and Protestant alike. It is one of those traditions of

worship that, no matter how far apart we may seem at times, we continue to share due to our common heritage.

But Palm Sunday is also known as Passion Sunday, because we hear an account of the passion of Jesus Christ during the liturgy.

Most churches also share this reading in common. Many Catholic parishes use multiple lectors to proclaim the Gospel,

while it is not uncommon for a similar reading or even a performance in many mainstream Protestant churches.

The commonality found in the worship on this particular Sunday seems to highlight the fundamental truth in the observance:

Jesus Christ died for everyone. He did not die on a cross for just Catholics, or just Orthodox, or just Protestants. Whether one acknowledges it or not, he was crucified for all those who are

born of man. Today, we rejoice not just for what he has done for us but also for what he has done for all of creation.

Amanda Peters, daughter of Gail Ann Peters who passed away

wants parish members to remember her mother in their prayers.

PLEASE USE THE PEWS WITH CARE

The pews are restored like brand new! Parishioners are asked to handle the pews with thoughtful care.

Anointing of the Sick Mass

Our Parish will be having a Mass for praying and

anointing of our sick and homebound parishioners on Saturday, May 5th, at 10 AM. Because of this Mass, there is no 8:30 am Mass on that day. Parishioners are

asked to begin making preparations for their sick

family members and friends to attend the Mass. Please do all that you can to help .

Parishioners who are suffering from long term

ailments should attend the Mass. More information to

follow. .
