1558: June 6, General Congregation I convenes. July 2, Pope Paul IV orally confirms the Society’s Institute. September 10, the congregation approves the Spanish text and Polanco’s Latin translation of Ignatius’ Constitutions.

1583: Pope Gregory XIII approves the Jesuit Institute, including the constitution,In the bull “Quanto Fructuosius”, and again in “Ascendente Domino”.

1595: The processes are begun for Ignatius’ beatification.

1609: December 3, His beatification by pope Paul V.

1622: March 12, canonization of Ignatius and Francis Xavier by Pope Gregory XV.
