Mission

We, the parish of St. Isidore the Farmer, are dedicat-

ed to growing a life-long Catholic community. Be-

lieving in the Risen Christ, we are empowered by the

Holy Spirit to celebrate the Eucharist, to be nour-

ished by the Word of God, and to serve the needs of

the local and worldwide community.

Witness Publication Updated Information Please be advised that after careful consideration that

included a thorough review of subscriptions, financ-

es, and available resources, it has been decided that

the archdiocese will discontinue The Witness at 4:30

PM on 30 September 2020. The issue dated 4 Octo-

ber 2020 will be the last.

You can find the complete explanation of this change

on the Archdiocesan website (link is at the bottom of

the St. Isidore website) or in last week’s bulletin.

Calling All Common Venture Former Volunteers!

Can you believe that the Franciscan Common Ven-

ture service program (FCV), sponsored by the Dubu-

que Franciscans, will celebrate 50 years next year?

So SAVE THE DATE Saturday, July 17, 2021.

More information on the celebration will be coming

soon. In the meantime, send in a photo or two from

your FCV experience, especially the early years (70’s

and 80’s) Let us know the date/year and location of

your service as well as name anyone in the photo.

You can email photos to Sr. Shell at:

[email protected] or send them to her at the FCV

office 3390 Windsor Ave Dubuque, Ia 52001.

Visit the St. Isidore website to read the letter

from a Manhattan Kansas couple who took refuge

in the St. Isidore parking lot during the storm on

August 10th as well as the reply Cheryl sent back.

We received a “thank you” for the donation to the

Restoration of the Monument of Nathan Brown in the

Springville Cemetery. A dedication has been set for

September 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the cemetery and

a reception will follow at the Springville Area Histor-

“Cantare amantis est…singing belongs to one who

loves.” – Saint Augustine

I received another response from our Youth Choir on their

favorite hymns this week and the number one favorite song,

by far, is 10,000 Reasons! This is such a beautiful hymn and

I find my own girls singing this song at home all the time.

Enjoy reading through the lyrics below:

Kalleigh Green – 10,000 Reasons

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul; worship his holy

name.

Sing like never before, O my soul; I’ll worship your holy

name.

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning, it’s time to sing

our song again.

Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me, let me

be singing when the evening comes.

You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger. Your name

is great and your heart is kind.

For all your goodness, I will keep on singing: ten thou-

sand reasons for my heart to find.

And on that day, when my strength is failing, the end

draws near, and my time has come;

Still, my soul will sing your praise unending: ten thou-

sand years, and then forevermore.

-Theresa Sundstrom
