Sacraments
Help religious communities. “Your generous contribution helps us to care for our retired sisters and enables our younger sisters to continue in active ministry,” writes a religious sister. Your gift to today’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious helps provide medications, nursing care, and more for thousands of senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests. It also helps ensure younger members can continue the good works of their elders!
Please give to this week’s Retirement Fund for Religious collection.

Family Perspectives
Second Sunday of Advent
John the Baptist stood out from the crowd. The way he dressed, his lifestyle, his fervor, his commitment to proclaiming the coming of Jesus Christ. Families proclaim their beliefs every day by the way they live and the choices they make. Do our family’s priorities proclaim our belief in Jesus?
This Week’s Psalm
Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us
your salvation.

Meet in church
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We celebrated the second annual We Give Catholic Campaign this past week. Saint Jerome Parish raised a total of 5,545 dollars from 30 donors. Once again, we took second place in the small parish division. This means that St. Jerome Church will be awarded a prize of 2,000 dollars. The Diocese raised a total of 702,370 dollars in just one day. This represents a 70% increase when compared to the 2016 We Give Catholic Campaign. The money raised will help support Catholic Charities, Catholic Education, Priestly Formation, and other diocesan ministries. Bishop Perez, who had never been to Cleveland prior to his appointment as our bishop, was recently asked what his first impressions were of Cleveland. He responded, "the friendliness and generosity of the people of Cleveland." These two qualities certainly apply to the people of St. Jerome Church. Next year I hope we can do even better, with more donors and more money raised! Have a great week! Fr. Bill Jerse

Mission Statement of Saint Jerome Church Established in 1919, St. Jerome is a Roman Catholic Parish Community. Through our baptism into Jesus Christ, we have become a community of believers. Our purpose is to glorify God, live the life of Christ daily, and share our gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit. We pledge to worship together, to serve our brothers and sisters in need, and to be a beacon for all future generations. We dedicate and place this mission statement in the hands of Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, and ask her to remind us, as she once did at Cana, Do whatever He tells you.
St. Jerome science teacher, Mrs. Mc Voy, had our seventh and eighth graders make dioramas of endangered animals and their habitats. The children did an awesome job. Some of the dioramas are displayed in the church. Please spend a few minutes and take a look!
Mrs. Susan Coan
Giving Tree Please put your tagged and wrapped presents under the tree or return gifts to the church or parish office by Sunday, December 17th for Christmas delivery.
Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord . . .We do so much to prepare for Christmas. Shopping, baking, cleaning, decorating, more shopping. But what are we doing to prepare for Christ? Why not set aside a few minutes each day to prepare our hearts to receive the great gift of Jesus into our lives. five minutes with the Word-offers short meditations on the reading of the day with a prayer suggestion The Little Blue Book-is designed to take up just 6 minutes each day, but is a deeply enriching experience. Each day has two pages, on the right we are invited to walk through the first chapters of the Gospel of Matthew, on the left a variety of thoughts about Advent, Christmas, our customs and traditions. Best Advent Ever-provides short (2 minute) video reflections and suggestions for prayer and further reading directly to your email. The program is free and past users speak highly of it. Go to dymaniccatholic.com/bestadventever or to our website and click the link to sign up All year long we offer the monthly Word Among Us which in some ways is like the old “Missalettes” in that it has the daily readings and the Order of Mass but also features meditations based on the readings and various spiritual articles.
We invite you to take advantage of all of these resources, the books are available at the church doors and the email program through our website or Facebook page. Each provides another way for all of us to Keep Christ in Christmas.
