The Light is On. Confessions are every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. during Lent. “ The Lord never tires of forgiving you.” -Pope Francis

Memorial Easter Plants. The Mass honoring loved ones remembered with a Easter plant will be celebrated on Sunday, April 23 at 10:15 a.m. Please see the forms on the table of the Church entrances for details. Deadline to submit request is April 14.

Living Stations of the Cross. Join us for the Living Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Church featuring the 8th Grade SJE Class re-enacting the Passion of Our Lord. Lenten Giving Tree. During the Lenten season, we are asked to examine our hearts and find ways to draw closer to Christ. For this Lent 2017, instead of "giving up" something, consider "doing something" for others here in our St. John's community. On Ash Wednesday, the Giving Tree was placed on the side alcove of the Main Church. Please take an envelope from the table and prayerfully consider what you might be able to give to someone in our Parish who is struggling with paying their bills or feeding their children. Then return the envelope with your contribution to the collection basket or the box near the tree. These funds are used by our Parish Social Concerns Ministry in reaching out to those in need here in our midst.

Lenten Rice & Tea Dinners. By fasting we not only share in the suffering of our Lord, Jesus, Christ, but we are reminded of our hunger for God. Through this hunger and sacrifice, we are reminded of our baptismal commitments. This small suffering should not be met with misery but with great joy, as we better understand the

incredible sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us. Together, let us bring Christ’s love into our daily lives. All are invited to gather for our weekly Rice & Tea Dinners (Reflection Too), on Wednesdays during Lent from 6-7:00 pm in the School Auditorium (March 29 & April 5). If you are interested in helping with any of the efforts involved in the preparations and/or hosting one of the meals - you are more than welcome! Please contact Peg Daly [email protected] OR Carla Haywood [email protected].

Vocations Tree. Pray for Our Seminarians and Those in Consecrated Life. Thanks to all of you who picked a card from the tree. Please keep up the daily prayers for seminarians throughout Lent and beyond. Archdiocesan seminarians go through many years of formation before ordination. At some point before ordination, a seminarian may spend a year at a parish and is ordained a transitional deacon the year before he is ordained a priest. Palms. Please remember to bring in your dry, old palms from last year, cut unto small pieces, and place in the labeled baskets next to the tables of the Church entrances. The palms will be collected until Sunday, April 2.

Vacation Bible School 2017. Jump on the Queen of Heaven Express at St. John the Evangelist Vacation Bible School July 17-21, 2017! Join us at the Blessed Virgin Mary leads us to Jesus. We learn about the power of the Rosary to teach us about Jesus’ life and explore the Mysteries of the Rosary and Mary’s messages about Jesus at each stop. Children will get to know how Mary taught us to love her Son in appearances at Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe, Knock, and Mount Carmel. VBS week at SJE is always fun and informative. It nourishes our families spiritually and brings us together as a community. We need parent and middle/high school volunteers from both Religious Education families and SJE School families. Please contact [email protected] with questions or to volunteer. SJE Help Hotline. For several years, SJE has operated a Help-Hotline to support our parish community and neighbors. The hotline is a voice-mailbox that is checked daily by a small group of parishioners on a rotating basis, and information is kept confidential. Those responding to the hotline can coordinate food assistance from the SJE food pantry, and can help identify resources within the parish or county for various needs, such as financial needs, or transportation needs for senior citizens. If you or a friend need assistance, please call 301-593-1888.
