Living Stewardship Now A simple guideline for giving money each year:

1. Decide what portion of your income truly expresses your gratitude to God.

2. Of that total, set aside 50 percent to give to your parish in the offertory collection.

3. Give 10 percent of the total to your diocesan annual appeal.

4. Donate the other 40 percent to the charities and good causes you favor.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Diocese of Joliet will participate in the national collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) dur ing the weekend of November 17-18, 2018. Your support for this collection brings change to communities across the country and empowers those living in poverty to transform the places they live into reflections of the Kingdom of God. CCHD funds create communities that are more just and welcoming to those who live in trapped in the cycle of poverty.

Besides making an impact naturally, a share of the funds collected are used to empower those living in poverty within our own borders. In the Diocese of Joliet, for example, we provide grants for organizations that help human-trafficking victims with counseling services and support groups. These funds are used to provide educational workshops for immigrant and impoverished communities, and they have also funded a community garden enterprise led by low-income youth.

Your support for this collection makes a very real difference for people living in poverty across the United States. Please prayerfully consider how you might contribute to CCHD this year. If you would like more information about the collection and he people it supports, visit www.usccb.org/cchd/collection. Thank you for joining us to work on the margins.

Director of Adult Faith Formation, Michael Lewandowski, will present on the life of St. Isaac Jogues. Isaac was born to a prosperous family in France in 1609. His desire was to bring the Gospel far and wide as a Jesuit missionary. He first ministered among the Hurons in Canada. Fr. Jogues struggled to spread the Gospel in the New World. He bore much suffering and danger, and witnessed terrible torture. However, his zeal and love for souls would eventually bear fruit.

Fr. Jogues returned to France after being captured and tortured by the Mohawks. He eventually left France once more to again minister in the New World, where he was martyred. He was canonized in 1930, along with the seven other North American Martyrs.
