CYO Athletics News from Father Todd Dear friends, We welcome the members of our Mission Team home from their week in Frakes, Ken-tucky. With them we thank God for the safe journey they made to and from their mission station and for all that God was able to ac-

complish through their hands. I have heard some beautiful stories of the people they met and the witness they gave. For many of the people in that part of Appalachia our parishioners were the first Catholics they had ever encountered. They have been the face and hands of Jesus to these brothers and sis-ters. The Mission Trip was organized by our Social Justice Committee and I have a feeling that this year’s trip will be the first of many. Thank you to all who participated and to all who supported our parish missionaries! This week we welcome Fr. Joe Feltz to St. Mark. Archbishop Tobin has appointed Fr. Joe to serve as the Vicar for Clergy and Parish Life Coordinators. He succeeds Fr. Steve Giannini in this special service to the Archdiocese. While Fr. Joe will work from the Archdiocesan offices and will serve as Sacra-mental Minister to the parishes of Sacred Heart in Terre Haute and St. Mary of the Woods Village Parish in West Terre Haute on weekends, he will make his home with us at St. Mark! When Fr. Joe was first ordained in 2002 he was assigned to the Richmond Catholic Community and I had the privilege of ministering with him there and so it a special joy to welcome him to St. Mark. Please pray for him and for all priests who are beginning new assignments in these days. Thank you to everyone who came to my rescue after my ‘misstep’ in church on Friday, June 19. While my leg is broken, thanks to the parishioners who were at Mass that day, the EMT’s, Dr. Jeffrey Ollo and the staff at Saint Francis Hospital and the excellent care of Deacon Meril, Deacon Tom, Chris Gudel and the parish staff, I am on the fast track road to recov-ery. Thank you also to all who have sent cards, well wishes, prayers and food during this time. If you’re going to break a leg, I can’t think of a better place to do it than at St. Mark! Next weekend we will host the first of two missionaries who will be with us this summer for Mission Appeals. Please extend a warm welcome to Fr. Moses Mapela from the Archdiocese of Mwanza, Tanzania. Fr. Moses will share with us about the work of the Church in Tanzania and the needs of his diocese. Father will also stay with us to celebrate daily Masses while I am away for a few days of vacation. I am grateful to him for this kindness. Please be generous in your support and care of Fr. Moses.
