Volume XVIII No. 1882 Palm Sunday Of The Passion Of The Lord April 9, 2017

Father Wencil will be blessing Easter food baskets on Holy Saturday, April 15, at 10 AM at St. Paul.

This Polish-Chech tradition celebrates the end of Lenten fasting and the

anticipation of the blessed, first meal of Easter Sunday morning to be shared

joyfully by the family. Beautifully decorated baskets containing, among other

foods, eggs (symbolizing new life), bread (the Holy Eucharist), meats (abundance

of joy and love), salt (“we are the salt of earth”), horseradish (Christ’s Passion),

and wine (Precious Blood), are brought to church on Holy Saturday for the short

liturgy and blessing that lasts 15 minutes.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Office Hours: 281.333.2509

Tuesday-Wednesday, 9:30-11:30 AM Thursday: 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brings joy, peace, forgiveness, mercy and kindness to the hurting hearts of the poor.

Through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is able to help families on the brink of eviction, like this one, who sent a thank you note we wanted to share with our generous parish.

“God bless you and your Church. You guys and of course the Lord are the answer to our prayers. This is a true miracle to us. We can’t thank you enough. God bless you all. PS The Lord is truly alive!! Please pray for us! We need any vehicle that runs.”

Thank you also to the many volunteers who came out for Caritas Day and worked the St. Vincent de Paul and Houston Food Bank Food Fair. More than 100 families received generous portions of milk, fresh fruits and vegetables. May God bless your giving hearts, especially SVdP’s President, Nancy Pocklington, Vincentians Jennifer Telling and Cathie Foley for organizing and promoting the fair to our neighbors in need around the region.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living

“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the

faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a

diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have

learned along the way.

Interested in being Catholic? If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about becoming Catholic, our RCIA program is just the ticket! The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a process of prayer, reflection, and learning that allows for the continual discernment of God's will. Contact Heidi Clark, 281.333.3891 or [email protected]

Dinner is from 7-7:30 followed by an hour of engaging discussion on the Gospel of Matthew that you can connect to your everyday life. Join us at any time! lugar es parte de él.” (1 Cor. 12:27)
