A MESSAGE FROM FATHER PAT Dear St. Pius X Community,

HE IS RISEN! Divine Mercy, what a gi . Thanks to all that made this weekend work. I didn’t get to thank all the great volunteers for the Fish Fries, so I should stop while I’m behind. But, I can’t not thank a few people that have been essen al to what we have been doing. First, Lauren Adre is new to being a Worship Director. She is learning on the fly and doesn’t always get the a en on she needs or was promised from her Pastor. Please help me in thanking her for the amazing job that she did and con nues to do. If you have any feedback on Holy Week, please email me as we are evalua ng everything and are always looking for ways to help deepen the faith of our community. Thanks also to the Farmers who gave countless hours making sure all the sacristan du es were covered for the week.

I have received many compliments on the new choir pla orm. It may have been my plan or idea, but it never would have been ready for Easter or even maybe this year with out a few key people. Marshall Smith and Ernie Garcia were the design and build team. They took my plan and totally changed it, and we are all glad that they did. Marshall enlisted Jeff Lavender of Green Carpet (Jeff might say he was dra ed) for the carpet and finish work. Marshall then helped me get all the wiring completed and we are good to go. What a change to have the choir out of the exit, part of the assembly and able to be heard so much more clearly. Thanks to the team for their fast reless work.

The giving tree is back. There are projects on it that we need funds for. Please look at the tree and see if you know anyone that might be able to help us accomplish any of them. If you have ques ons, see Debbie Landry, Angie Smith or me.

Parish Council has started being present in the back of the Church with the priest. There are mes a er Mass that people have ques ons that are too complicated to answer while everyone is leaving, so a council member will be there and the priest will ask you to see them. Either they will be able to answer your ques on or they may just keep you company while you wait for the priest to finish up. Let me know if you like how this is going.

Stewardship! We have a leader and a group finally star ng. We called some of the people on our list that had volunteered for this group and they are now involved in other ways or have moved, so we s ll need members. Training will start in May. We have a lot of work to do in this area. Look around, it is the same

SPX MEAL & A MESSAGE

6:00 PM – Dinner 6:30 to 7:30 PM – Speaker

Free Admission - All Ages Welcome Msgr. Mar n Family Center

Guest Speaker: Mary Jane Fox, LHS Presen ng: “Pilgrim People Living the Joy of the Gospel”

A er an extraordinary encounter with Christ, Mary Jane Fox and her husband, Deacon Tom Fox, founded the well-known Catholic evangeliza on apostolate, Pilgrim Center of Hope. The center guides people to Christ and the Church through pilgrimages, conferences, and other evangeliza on programs. Mary Jane co-hosts a weekly Catholic TV and Radio program called “Catholicism Live.” She has also received an Apostolic Blessing from John Paul II, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Pope Francis.

people always volunteering. Even my best guess of our having around 800 to 1000 families, we only have 192 givers for the Archbishop’s Appeal and only 200 for the Archbishop’s Capital Campaign. Even at 800 we are at 25% par cipa on. Depending on whom you talk to, a healthy community should be at least at 35%. We will make our appeal goal and even if we don’t make our Campaign goal, I would be OK with that if we had over 60% par cipa on but now I’m just hoping to get to 35%. It isn’t just about the amount, it is about being a part of something beyond ourselves. We need about $250,000 to reach our goal and have enough to really do a good job in the Family Center Kitchen. I would be ecsta c if everyone made some pledge. We have lots of small pledges and I love seeing them as it shows commitment to the mission of the Church and to the vision of our Archbishop.

To the 200 people that have given, THANK YOU! To the remaining parishioners, please pray about it and realize we are a part of the larger whole and as we are called to be the Light, an easy way for us to do that is with our financial stewardship to the larger Church!

In Him,

Fr. Pat

FR. CESAR’S CORNER ALTAR FLOWERS

Sunday, April 8 - Low Sunday (Octave Day of Easter)

Saturday, April 14 - St. Jus n, Martyr

Sunday, April 15 - Second Sunday a er Easter (Good Shepherd)

Hello Everyone!

It is nice to hear you have had a wonderful Easter. We kick off this Easter season with a marvelous celebra on: it is called Divine Mercy Sunday. Many of you have prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet during nine consecu ve days. During these last nine days you have pondered the infinite mercy of God and you have come to realize that God isn’t kidding what exercising His mercy is about. He has plainly stated in the Book of Exodus how He bestows mercy. “So the LORD passed before Moses and proclaimed: The LORD, the LORD, a God gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love and fidelity, con nuing His love for a thousand genera ons, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin; yet not declaring the guilty guiltless” (Ex 34:6-7b).

In this passage we observe that God exercises mercy with a total open heart and in the mean me He emphasizes that that mercy is subordinated to an obedient servant. On the other hand, Christ has deeply stated in the book of John: “Whomever belongs to God hears the words of God…whomever keeps my word will never see death” (John 8:46.51). We realize then that God’s mercy has to do with the acceptance of the Christ’s message. God’s mercy cannot be understood as a detached part of the message; it is simply embedded in it.

At the end of the Exodus passage we see that God is not forge ng sins; He is truly judging when one doesn’t accept His Lordship. Christ summarizes this saying: “I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world. Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has something to judge him: the word that I spoke. It will condemn him on the last day, because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life” (John 12: 46-50).

By accep ng God’s will in our lives we are living in His mercy. That is Divine Mercy Sunday. It is not only about how much God forgives us, but how much we allow Him to be part of our very beings.
