Congratulations!
The relatively young SPX soccer team ended the season with a 4-0 win! Big highlights this season include Dominic‘s hattrick, Vicente scoring at least one goal at every game, Isaac’s return to the game, and SPX alumni cheering them on! Congratulations to Coach Christina for a great season!

8th grade high school tours
Every year, our 8th grade students are invited to tour and learn about our Catholic high schools. This year is a little different, but our first virtual tours included lunch delivered for our 8th graders along with virtual visits from SPX alum now at Central and Incarnate Word. Upcoming tours include Antonian and St. Anthony’s, with more scheduled later during November. Click on the school logos to learn more about our Catholic high schools in San Antonio.

4th grade Life Science
Our 4th grade class hamster, Nibbles, is a gift from SPX Middle School retired teacher Virginia Moreno.
The students help care for him and have used the chrome books to do hamster research and then created reports on their research. Nibbles and the 4th graders are very happy
together! Thank you Mrs. Marenco!

Dear Parents,
The SPX Library is sponsoring the 1st annual Literary Pumpkin Patch for any students
who would like to participate. Pumpkin Patch rules will be explained to the students, but I
thought you’d like to have this information too, in case you have any question.
LITERARY PUMPKIN PATCH RULES
1. The theme of the pumpkin decorating is “My Favorite Storybook Character”.
2. Pumpkins can be painted or colored, but NOT carved. Acrylic paints or permanent
markers work best. Watercolors tend to run. Yarn, pipe cleaners, construction
paper, etc. may be used to decorate the pumpkin. Paste or glue may also be
used.
3. CARVED pumpkins will NOT be accepted.
4. Pumpkins cannot be bigger than a basketball!!
5. There may be only ONE (1) pumpkin character per student.
6. Each entry should be clearly identified with the following information:
a. Student’s name and class (teacher name/grade)
b. Storybook character the pumpkin represents
7. Please bring pumpkins to the library on Monday October 26, 2020-Wednesday
October 28, 2020.
8. There will be a Certificate of Participation awarded to each student. This event will
not be judged. We want to promote literacy with this fun family event. Each
student that participates will also receive a pass for Free Dress on Thursday,
October 29, 2020.
9. Pumpkins will be returned to the students on Friday, October 30. The pumpkins
MUST be taken home that day by 3:30pm, or they will be thrown away. Pumpkins
will be available for pick up at the students’ normal dismissal location or sent to
After School Care.
10. Participation is totally voluntary and should be done on the student’s own time.
It will be fun and exciting to see what literary characters are represented by the creative
minds at SPX. I hope that this will be a faBOOlous success this year and for years to
come! Please feel free to email or call me if you have any questions. Thanks for
supporting your child in this project.
Sincerely,
Erin Martinez, Librarian
