From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The times we are living in are very agitated. There is a lot of stress, anxiety and uncertainty in our society for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, one

outcome of living in such stressful times is that there is more violence of all types present in our society.

The reality of domestic violence is not an easy topic to speak about. Yet, its reality is present in our homes. Our parish has formed a ministry to help us

all deal with this reality. We have a group of people who have volunteered to be trained to assist those who have been affected by this reality.

The purpose of this ministry is:

1. To Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence2. To Connect Victims, Their Children and Perpetrators to Services

3. To Promote Prevention of Domestic Violence

Our parish is part of a wider network that is part of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s “Department of Parish and Vitality and Mission”. The specific area

is called “Human Dignity and Solidarity”.

If you want more information on Domestic Violence, please review the following.

WEB SIGHTS: DomesticViolenceOutreach.org

Call or text the Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline: (877)863-6338. This is a 24hr hotline

1. Call the Parish: (773) 581-2730 and enter the extension number 145. 2. Leave your name, phone number and message.

3. Your message will then be sent to a member of our ministry team and they will respond as quickly as possible.

Know that you are not alone if you are a victim of domestic violence.

Question of the Week

ST VINCENT DE PAULFOOD OF THE MONTH CLUB

It’s November, and we’re planning for our Thanksgiving Distribution of Food to our families, but at the same time, we need to keep our pantry stocked with all the family favorites. During the months of November, we are asking for your help with donations

of the following food items.

BOXES OF MACARONI AND CHEESE

Your donations can be placed in the box located in the vestibule of the church when you come to Mass, or they can be taken to the

Rectory during normal business hours.

Now is your chance to help another family celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy a delicious family meal. Please

contribute whatever you can. Thank you and may God Bless You for your generosity -- you may think it’s a small gesture on your

part, but know that it means a lot to a needy family.

Thank you!

Jolly Senior’s NewsPlease celebrate Christmas at New Warsaw on

December 14th at 11am. Make your reservation now. Guests are invited to join us and

Ciebie, mój Boże, pragnie dusza moja.

Today’s ReadingsFirst Reading — Wisdom is easily discerned by those who

love her (Wisdom 6:12-16).

Psalm — My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God (Psalm 63).

Second Reading — Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, through Jesus, God will bring with him those

who have died (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 [13-14]).

Gospel — Stay awake! You know neither the day nor the hour (Matthew 25:1-13).

WisdomWe consider wisdom today. The first reading from the book of Wisdom presents this precious gift as a feminine spirit,

a very desirable virtue sought by many and graciously present to all who seek her. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells a parable to illustrate wisdom in a practical, measurable way. The wise will conserve their resources, use them prudently,

and mark the passing of time. The foolish, on the other hand, not planning ahead, will be in the dark. Both of these readings tell us how accessible wisdom is to all who simply

and honestly seek it.

Paul’s words to the Thessalonians are not about wisdom, but describe one result of true wisdom: To the wise person

of faith even death holds no terror. Our faith in Jesus’ resurrection tells us we will all one day rise to new life in

Christ.

Advent Tea / Walking with MaryDecember 7, 2017

Time: 7:00-8:30 pmLocation: Mayslake Ministries offices

Presenter: Gina Sannasardo Cost: $20

Join us for tea, cookies and conversation as we explore the life of Mary as our model for spiritual growth in this holy season of Ad-

vent. Mary's life challenges us to trust in God, to offer our fiat, our resounding yes to God, even when we can't see the road ahead. As our spiritual mother, Mary invites us to gently rest in Her love

and in the love of Her Son Jesus as we prepare for the great feast of Christmas.

My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.

Parish Mission Statement

We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in

us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out

Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God

by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal

call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by

the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent

and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we

believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,

forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with

us, know we are Christians by our love!
