From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We are about one month away from our parish celebration of St. Turibius. I want to encourage everyone to plan on attending our Parish Festival on

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 2019.

On this day we will be celebrating the Feast of St. Turibius. Our celebration will begin with our Parish Festival. It will begin with a Mass at 4:00 pm. After Mass,

our parish parking lot will be set up for games, dancing, bingo, music, a train for the kids (and adults) and of course food from the three cultures of

our parish.

The festival has become an event that brings us all together. It has become a time that allows us to experience the diverse cultures that are part of our

parish community.

We are raffling a KAWASAKI NINJA 650 Motorcycle. The tickets are $10.00 apiece. We are very grateful to a parishioner who has donated this motor cycle. The proceeds of this raffle will be used to help cover the cost of our annual celebration of the Feast of Guadalupe and also to help with various

expenses for our parish. The raffle tickets will be sold after the Masses and you can also purchase them in the parish office.

We are also raffling off a TV set. To get a ticket for this raffle, you have to come to church on Sunday, August 13. There will be one ticket given to each adult who attends Mass on that day. To win the TV, you have to be present at

the time of the raffle.

If you would like to help us set up, clean up or offer some of your time to help with the games for the kids and adults during the festival, please contact the

parish office.

Od proboszcza biurka Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,

Mamy około miesiąca od naszej parafialnej celebracji św. Chcę zachęcić wszystkich do zaplanowania uczestnictwa w naszym Festiwalu Parafialnym

jedzenie z trzech kultur nasza parafia.

Aby

biurem parafialnym.

Flea Market Good afternoon, Neighbor!

Remember last year’s inaugural community flea market? It’s time to hold our second one!

This year’s community flea market will take place on Saturday, July 13 from 8:30am-2:30pm. St. Turibius has graciously offered

to host the event in their parking lot, located at 5646 S Karlov Ave Chicago, IL 60629.

All are welcome to sell, but space is very limited–there are only about 25 spaces.

If you want to sell, please read the guidelines below.

1) Parking spaces are $15 each, and each seller may reserve up to two spaces. Celia is the point-of-contact for reservations and

will collect payment in person on the day of the event.

2) You may arrive as early as 7:30am. The flea market starts at 8:30am. There are no reserved spaces in the buy/sell area; it's

first come, first pick. 3) No selling of food or beverages (e.g. lemonade stands, bottled

water, baked goods, etc.) or illegal merchandise (e.g. weapons, drugs, etc.).

4) Sell only within the confines of your space(s).

5) A portion of the parking lot will be blocked off for you to park your vehicle after you have unloaded your merchandise in your

space(s). I cannot guarantee that there will be enough spaces for all sellers so it would be to your advantage to arrive on the earlier side. Your vehicle is not permitted to remain parked within the buy/

sell area.

6) The flea market ends at 2:30pm, and the parking lot must be cleared by 3:00pm. Please leave your reserved space(s) tidy and

free of trash. Please do not leave any unsold items next to the garbage bins. All garbage and unwanted items must fit entirely in

the church’s garbage bins.

Restrooms for sellers are located in St. Turibius’s basement.

Sellers must provide their own tables and lawn chairs. Feel free to bring a pop-up canopy tent to sell beneath the shade.

A portion of the seller space monies will be gifted to the host of the parking lot, St. Turibius. A portion will be reserved to cover marke-ting and promotional supplies for future community flea markets.

Remaining funds will go to The Southwest Collective.

If you want to sell and you agree to the aforementioned guideli-nes, please let me know. I will be selling as well, and it would be

great to meet you!

Please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested in selling. I'm excited to bring our community together in this way!

If you have any questions or if you would like to reserve a space, please let me know.

A Prayer of Those Growing OlderLord, Thou knowest I am growing older. Keep me from becoming talkative and possessed with the idea that I must express myself on every subject. Release

me from the craving to straighten out everyone's affairs. Keep me from the recital of endless detail. Give me wings to get to the point. Seal my lips when I am inclined to tell of my aches and pains. They are increasing with the years and my love to speak of them grows sweeter as time goes by. Teach me the

glorious lesson that occasionally I may be wrong. Make me thoughtful but not nosy; helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom and experience it does seem a pity not to use it all. But, Thou knowest, Lord, that I want a few friends at

the end. Amen.

We Are One Family, Encircled by God’s Love!

Saint Turibius Parish

Parish Mission Statement

We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in

us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out

Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God

by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal

call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by

the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent

and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we

believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,

forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with

us, know we are Christians by our love!
