Animal Industry Department
Vision: Convertirse en un Departamento Tridimensional de excelencia que imparte una preparación profesional idónea a sus egresados, que provee un ambiente conducente a una alta productividad científica de los profesores investigadores y sus estudiantes y que presta servicios impactantes de peritaje y divulgación a la comunidad agropecuaria y al publico en general en Puerto Rico y mas allá de las fronteras del país
Mission
The mission of the Integrated Department of Animal Industry, University if Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, is to develop the student in a professional and integral way, as to sufficiently prepare the individual to be able to establish, develop and support the industry of animals for food and other animal related goods in Puerto Rico.

Be the leader on agricultural education and agricultural and agroindustrial research in Puerto Rico by means of an interdisciplinary team
Maintain close collaboration with both the public and private agricultural sectors, projecting toward other tropical regions, particularly the Caribbean basin.
Mission
To contribute by means of education and research, to the development of agroindustries and of an agricultural that is economically viable and competitive, taking into account the stages of production, processing and marketing food products as well as conservation of the environment, thus contributing to a better quality of life.

Mission
“Within the philosophical framework established by the University of Puerto Rico Act, the Mayagüez campus directs its efforts towards the development of educated, cultured citizens, capable of critical thinking, and professionally qualified in the fields of agricultural, social, and natural sciences, engineering, humanities and business administration. They should be able to contribute in an efficient manner to the cultural, social, and economic development of the Puerto Rican and international community. This process is aimed at endowing our alumni with a strong technical and professional background and to instill a strong commitment to Puerto Rico and our hemisphere. Our alumni should have the necessary skills and knowledge to participate effectively in the search for solutions to the problems facing us, to promote the enrichment of the arts and culture, the development and transfer of technology as well as to uphold the essential attitudes and values of a democratic society.”
