To carry out our mission, we:

- follow in the footsteps of Saint Peter and Ven. Dear Cathedral & St. Mary Mission Family,

This Sunday we mark as “Respect Life Sunday,” recognizing

the dignity and sanctity of all human life from conception to

natural death. Again we will offer the opportunity after

Masses for you to sign a Petition to End Dismemberment

Abortion in Michigan. You’ll find a flyer in the bulletin giving

you some background on this petition. I urge you to

participate if you have yet to do so, to save more unborn

babies and to save more women from the trauma of these

abortion procedures. The Michigan Catholic Conference

supports this petition effort.

This Monday, Oct. 7th we celebrate Our Lady of the Rosary,

and our Frassati Society will have our Fall BBQ Cookout at

Presque Isle Pavilion that evening from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

We’ll provide the burgers and hot dogs and beverages –

you may bring a dish to share. We’ll also pray the Rosary

together!

On Tuesday, Oct. 8th we’ll have a Healing Service at 6:30

p.m. with Eucharistic Adoration in the Cathedral. Prayer

teams will be available for praying with you for any needs.

Bring a friend or someone you know having needs for

healing…

Our Bible Study on Acts and Evangelization will continue on

Wednesday nights and the RCIA sessions will again resume

on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.. in the Media Room – do you

want to learn more about your Catholic faith or are thinking

about becoming Catholic? Come and find support and

enrichment!

Note the insert also on a guest speaker, Dcn. Harold Burke

Sivers who will be here on Thursday, Oct. 17th. Plan to

come! God bless!

In the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,

Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber

The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."

The Lord replied,

"If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,

you would say to this mulberry tree,

'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.

"Who among you would say to your servant

who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the

field,

'Come here immediately and take your place at table'?

Would he not rather say to him,

'Prepare something for me to eat.

Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink.

You may eat and drink when I am finished'?

Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was

commanded?

So should it be with you.

When you have done all you have been commanded,

say, 'We are unprofitable servants;

we have done what we were obliged to do.'"

“Virtues at FMCA”

Did you know that FMCA has monthly virtue assemblies? At our assemblies, the students have the opportunity to learn about the virtue of the month from other students! For the month of October, the first-grade class presented the virtue of “foresight”, and we discussed the successes of our September virtue, which was “orderliness”. Additional-ly, each month, two students are selected as the Virtue Award Recipients for best exemplifying the virtue of the month. Our students, teachers, and staff work hard to always be examples of the virtues of our Catholic faith.

To stay up to speed on our faith in action,

check out the FMCA Facebook page!

Hundreds of Northern Ireland medics oppose new

abortion regime

By SPUC—the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children More than 800 health care professionals have written to the sec-retary of state opposing the imposition of a radical new abortion regime on Northern Ireland. The medics say that they “wish to make known our opposition to the imminent introduction of abortion in Northern Ireland” and that their “concern throughout is for pregnant mothers and their unborn children”. “The concept of taking a human life at any stage is inimical to us, and the concept of taking a human life in the womb especially so,” they wrote. The group also “appeals to the UK government not to impose this unwanted legislation.” “We appeal to our elected representatives to re-establish a func-tional Northern Ireland government so that democratic process be restored,” they state. “We appeal to the wider society to con-sider and reflect on the humanity and value of every life, from conception to death, that the weakest and most vulnerable would be protected and cherished by all.” Dr. Andrew Cupples told the Belfast Telegraph that many medical professionals were concerned that they would not have a right to conscientious objection. —National Right to Life News, Sept 30
